Man, what a day! I swear, Jekabpils is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be chill. Just another day as a sports psychologist, right? Nope! Not in this town. First off, I hit up Rīgas iela for coffee. You know, the good stuff. I’m talking about that little café, “Kafijas Mīlestība.” Best lattes in town! But guess what? They ran out of almond milk. Like, seriously? Who runs out of almond milk? I was ready to throw a fit. I mean, c’mon, it’s 2023! So, I settled for regular milk. Ugh. Not the same vibe. But whatever, I chugged it down and headed to the sports complex. Gotta meet my clients, right? On the way, I passed by the Jekabpils Castle. It’s kinda cool, but honestly, it’s just a bunch of old bricks. I mean, who cares about history when you’re trying to help athletes not freak out before a game? But hey, it’s a nice backdrop for my Instagram, so I snapped a pic. #JekabpilsVibes, ya know? Finally, I get to the complex. The energy was electric! I had a session with this young football player, Artūrs. Kid’s got talent but man, he’s a head case. He was pacing like a caged lion. I’m like, “Dude, chill!” But he’s all, “I can’t! The pressure!” I tried to calm him down. We did some breathing exercises. I told him to picture himself scoring the winning goal. But then, outta nowhere, his phone buzzes. It’s his mom. She’s like, “Did you eat?!” I mean, come on, mom! He’s about to play a game, not have a picnic! After that, I was feeling pumped. I thought, “Let’s grab some lunch!” So, I hit up the market on Rīgas iela again. The food stalls were buzzing. I got some šašlik. Man, it was juicy! But then, I saw this guy drop his whole plate. I felt bad, but I couldn’t help but laugh. Like, dude, how clumsy can you be? Then, I ran into my buddy, Jānis. He’s always got the craziest stories. He told me about this time he tried to swim in the Daugava River. I was like, “Bro, you know it’s freezing, right?” But he’s all, “I’m a pro!” Classic Jānis. After lunch, I had another session. This time with a basketball player, Liene. She’s fierce! But she was having a meltdown over her last game. I mean, she missed a shot, and you’d think she lost the championship. I had to remind her, “It’s just a game!” But she was like, “No, it’s my life!” I was getting a bit frustrated. Like, c’mon, Liene! You’re in Jekabpils! You gotta enjoy the ride! But I kept it cool. We did some visualization. I told her to picture herself sinking that three-pointer. She finally calmed down. By the end of the day, I was exhausted. I walked back through the city, taking in the sights. The sunset over the Daugava was stunning. I mean, Jekabpils can be beautiful sometimes. But then, I tripped on the sidewalk. Like, seriously? I just wanted to enjoy the view! I laughed it off. Just another day in Jekabpils, right? So, I got home, plopped on the couch, and thought about the day. It was chaotic, emotional, and honestly, a bit ridiculous. But that’s life, I guess. Jekabpils, you never fail to surprise me!
