Man, today was a wild ride in Valmiera! Like, I woke up thinking it’d be just another boring day at the cash register, but boy, was I wrong. So, I roll into work at this little shop on Rīgas iela, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First customer walks in. This lady, I swear, she’s got a cart full of stuff. I mean, who needs 10 packs of sausages? Like, are you feeding an army or what? Anyway, she’s chatting away about the weather, and I’m just nodding, trying to scan her items. Then, she drops a jar of pickles. It shatters everywhere! I’m like, “Great, just what I needed.” Then, boom! The fire alarm goes off. I’m thinking, “Is this a drill or what?” But nope, it’s real. Everyone’s freaking out, running out the door. I’m just standing there, pickle juice on my shoes, thinking, “This is NOT in my job description.” After the chaos, we finally get back inside. I’m still trying to clean up the mess when this dude comes in. He’s got a skateboard, right? And he’s like, “Yo, can I pay with this?” He pulls out a handful of coins. I’m like, “Dude, this ain’t a flea market!” But he’s persistent. I mean, who even skates in Valmiera? So, I finally get through that madness. It’s lunchtime, and I’m starving. I decide to hit up the nearby café on Jāņa iela. Best decision ever! I grab a burger, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. Seriously, if you’re ever in Valmiera, you gotta try it. But then, I get back to work, and guess what? The power goes out! Just my luck, right? I’m standing there in the dark, and I can hear people grumbling. I’m like, “Chill, it’s just a little blackout!” But no, they’re acting like it’s the end of the world. Finally, the lights flicker back on, and I’m ready to finish my shift. But then, this kid comes in, probably like 10 years old, and he’s got this huge smile. He hands me a drawing he made of the store. I’m like, “Aww, that’s cute!” It totally made my day. As I’m closing up, I can’t help but think about how crazy Valmiera is. One minute, I’m dodging pickles, and the next, I’m getting art from a kid. It’s like a rollercoaster, man. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of surprises, chaos, and a little bit of joy. Valmiera, you never cease to amaze me!
