Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a glazier in Mahibadhoo is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s blazin’, birds chirpin’, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I hit up the local café on M. K. B. H. Road. Best coffee in town, no cap. I grab my usual—black coffee, no sugar. I need that jolt, ya know? But then, I spill it all over my shirt. Classic me. Now I’m lookin’ like a walking coffee stain. Great start, right? So, I head to the job site on the corner of Ameeru Hingun and Dhigga Magu. I’m supposed to replace this huge window at some fancy resort. I get there, and the client is all like, “Make it perfect!” Perfect? Dude, I’m a glazier, not a magician! But whatever, I roll with it. I’m up on the ladder, right? And outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my sandwich! Like, seriously? I’m just tryin’ to eat my lunch in peace! I yell, “Hey! That’s mine!” But the bird don’t care. It’s off, flyin’ away with my lunch like it’s the king of the skies. I’m left there, hangry and annoyed. Then, while I’m workin’, I hear this loud commotion down on the street. Turns out, it’s a bunch of kids playin’ football on the road. They’re kickin’ the ball around like they’re in the World Cup or somethin’. I can’t help but smile. They’re havin’ a blast, and it reminds me of my childhood. But then, BOOM! The ball comes flyin’ at me and hits my ladder! I almost fall! I’m like, “Yo, watch it!” But they just laugh. Kids, man. They don’t care. Finally, I finish the job. The window looks sick, if I do say so myself. I’m feelin’ proud, ya know? But then, I realize I left my tools back at the site. Ugh! So, I rush back, dodging tourists and locals on the busy streets of Mahibadhoo. It’s like a maze out there! I swear, I almost tripped over a coconut. Who knew they could be so dangerous? On my way back, I pass by the market on the main street. The smell of fresh fish and spices hits me. I can’t resist. I grab some tuna from a vendor. Best tuna in the Maldives, hands down. I’m thinkin’, “This’ll make up for the sandwich.” Finally, I get my tools and head home. I’m exhausted but happy. I plop down on my couch, ready to chill. But then, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy, Ahmed. He’s like, “Let’s hit the beach!” I’m like, “Dude, I just had the craziest day!” But he’s persistent. So, I throw on my flip-flops and head out. The beach is lit! The sunset is fire, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. I grab a drink, and we just chill, laughin’ about the day. I tell him about the seagull, the kids, and the tools. We’re crackin’ up. As the stars come out, I realize, despite the chaos, today was pretty awesome. Mahibadhoo, with all its quirks and craziness, is home. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of a glazier, right?
