Man, what a day! I’m a forester, right? So, I’m used to chillin’ in the woods, surrounded by trees and birds. But today? Today was a whole different ball game. I found myself in Axel, and lemme tell ya, it was wild. First off, I roll into Axel, and it’s like, whoa! This place is buzzing. I mean, I’m used to the quiet of the forest, not the hustle of the city. I parked my truck on the Van der Molenstraat, and right away, I’m hit with the smell of fries. Like, seriously? I just got here, and I’m already tempted to ditch my healthy forest diet. So, I’m walkin’ down the street, and I see this cute little café called De Koffieboon. I’m like, “Alright, let’s grab a coffee.” I walk in, and it’s packed! People everywhere, chattin’ and laughin’. I order a cappuccino, and the barista, this dude with a beard that could house a family of squirrels, spills half of it. I’m like, “Dude, I’m not here for a coffee shower!” But hey, I laugh it off. Then, I head over to the Markt. It’s this big square, and there’s a market goin’ on. Fresh veggies, flowers, and all that good stuff. I’m checkin’ out some rad tulips when I overhear this lady yellin’ at her kid. “Stop runnin’! You’ll knock over the cheese!” I chuckle. Kids, man. They’re like little tornadoes. But then, BAM! I see this guy on a bike, and he’s zoomin’ past. He swerves to avoid a pigeon and crashes into a stall. Cheese everywhere! I’m talkin’ a full-on dairy disaster. I can’t help but laugh. The guy’s okay, but the cheese? RIP, my dude. After that, I’m feelin’ kinda hungry, so I hit up this food truck on the Hoofdstraat. They’re servin’ up some killer poffertjes. I mean, who doesn’t love mini pancakes? I grab a plate, and as I’m munchin’, I spot this old man feedin’ the ducks by the water. It’s like a scene from a movie. I’m thinkin’, “This is what life’s about.” But then, outta nowhere, it starts rainin’. Like, seriously? I’m in Axel for five minutes, and I’m already soaked. I duck into a shop on the Kerkstraat, and it’s this cute little boutique. I’m lookin’ around, and I see this shirt that says “Nature is my therapy.” I’m like, “Dude, that’s me!” So, I buy it. Finally, I decide to head back to my truck. I’m walkin’ down the street, and I see this group of kids playin’ soccer. They’re kickin’ the ball around, havin’ a blast. I can’t help but smile. It reminds me of my childhood, runnin’ around in the woods, playin’ with my friends. But then, I trip over a curb. Classic me, right? I fall, and the kids start laughin’. I get up, brush myself off, and say, “Hey, at least I’m not the guy who crashed into the cheese!” They crack up, and I feel like a hero for a second. As I finally get to my truck, I’m thinkin’ about how crazy today was. From coffee spills to cheese disasters, Axel really knows how to keep things interesting. I’m exhausted but happy. I love my job in the forest, but days like this? They remind me that life’s about the little moments. So, yeah, Axel, you’ve been a trip. I’ll be back, but next time, I’m bringin’ my raincoat!
