Man, what a day! Seriously, Brummen is wild sometimes. I woke up thinking it’d be just another boring Tuesday. Spoiler alert: it was NOT. So, I’m cruising down the Dorpstraat, right? Just me and my coffee, trying to wake up. I’m half asleep, and boom! I see this massive truck blocking the road. Like, c’mon, dude! It’s 8 AM! I’m late for a meeting! I’m already fuming. I mean, who needs a truck that big in a tiny town like Brummen? Finally, I squeeze past it, and I’m thinking, “Okay, I can still make it.” But then, I hit the traffic light at the intersection of the Hoofdstraat and the Kerkstraat. It’s red. Of course. I’m tapping my fingers on the steering wheel, wishing I could just teleport to the office. When I finally get to work, I’m greeted by my team. They’re all buzzing about some surprise event. I’m like, “What now?” Turns out, they planned a team-building day. Ugh. I’m not a fan of trust falls or whatever. But hey, they had snacks, so I was like, “Fine, I’ll play along.” We head to the park near the Brummense Molen. It’s a cute spot, but I’m still grumpy. We start with some lame icebreakers. I’m rolling my eyes, but then, outta nowhere, someone brings out a frisbee. Now we’re talking! I’m competitive, so I’m all in. I’m running around, trying to catch this thing, and I totally trip over a rock. Classic me, right? I land right in the grass, and everyone’s laughing. I’m laughing too, but inside I’m like, “Great, now I’m the klutz of Brummen.” After that, we grab lunch at this little café on the Markt. The food is bomb! I mean, who knew Brummen had such good fries? I’m stuffing my face, and my colleague, Jan, starts telling this ridiculous story about his cat. I’m dying. Like, who knew cats could be so dramatic? But then, out of nowhere, my phone buzzes. It’s my boss. He’s like, “We need to talk about the project.” I’m thinking, “Dude, I’m in the middle of a team-building day!” But I can’t ignore him. So I step outside, and it starts pouring. Of course! Just my luck. I’m standing there, getting drenched, trying to sound professional. “Yeah, the project is going great!” Meanwhile, I’m soaked and shivering. I hang up, and I’m like, “What’s next? A tornado?” Finally, we wrap up the day, and I’m exhausted. I head home, and as I’m driving down the Laan van de Korenbloem, I see this beautiful sunset. It’s like the sky is on fire. I stop for a sec, just to take it in. Brummen can be pretty magical sometimes. I get home, kick off my shoes, and plop on the couch. I’m thinking about how crazy today was. From traffic jams to team-building and a surprise rain shower, it was a rollercoaster. But you know what? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Brummen, you’re a wild ride, but I love ya!
