Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m a raftsman, right? Just chillin’ in De-Kruiskamp, which, let me tell ya, is a wild place. You got the canals, the bridges, and all those quirky little streets. I mean, who names a street “Kruisstraat”? Sounds like a tongue twister after a few beers! So, I wake up, ready to hit the water. The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be a good day.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. I grab my gear, head out to the docks on the Zandweg. The water’s looking nice, but then I see it. A freakin’ log jam! Like, come on! I’m not a lumberjack, I’m a raftsman! I’m tryin’ to clear it, right? And this dude on a bike rides by, laughing at me. I’m like, “Dude, you try paddling through this mess!” But he just zooms off down the Laan van de Kruideniers. I swear, some people have no respect for the struggle. Finally, I get the logs sorted. I’m feelin’ like a champ. But then, outta nowhere, this kid throws a rock into the water. Splash! My boat rocks, and I almost go overboard. I’m like, “What’s wrong with you, kid?” He just giggles and runs off. Kids these days, man. No fear! After that chaos, I decide to take a break. I float over to the little café by the water, you know, the one on the corner of de Havenstraat? I grab a coffee, and it’s like liquid gold. I’m sippin’ and watchin’ the world go by. People are walking their dogs, couples are arguing, and I’m just there, chillin’. But then, I see this old lady struggling with her groceries. I’m like, “I gotta help her.” So, I hop outta my raft and rush over. Turns out, she’s a total sweetheart! We start chatting about the good ol’ days in De-Kruiskamp. She tells me about the old market on the Marktstraat. I’m like, “Wow, I wish I could’ve seen that!” But then, outta nowhere, her cat runs off! I’m like, “Oh no, not today!” So, we’re both chasing this cat down the street. It’s darting around like it’s in a race. I’m laughing, she’s yelling, and it’s just a whole scene. Finally, we catch it by the old church on de Kerkweg. I’m outta breath, but man, it felt good to help. After that, I’m back on the water, feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. But then, I hit another snag. A freakin’ boat party goes by, blasting music. I’m like, “Really? Can’t a guy paddle in peace?” But then, I can’t help it—I start bobbing my head to the beat. It’s catchy! As the sun starts to set, I’m floating back to the docks. The sky’s all pink and orange, and I’m just soaking it in. De-Kruiskamp is beautiful, man. I love this place, even with all the craziness. So, I finally get back, and I’m exhausted. But you know what? I wouldn’t trade this day for anything. It was wild, emotional, and just plain fun. De-Kruiskamp, you’ve got my heart, even if you drive me nuts sometimes!
