Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in my cozy little flat on the Hoofdstraat, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head to the lab. You know, the one near the old castle, the Twickel? Yeah, that place. I’m all pumped to work on my research about local flora. I mean, who doesn’t love plants, right? But then, BAM! I spill coffee all over my notes. Like, why do I even bother? I’m a scientist, not a barista! Anyway, I’m trying to salvage my notes when my buddy, Jeroen, bursts in. He’s all hyped about this new discovery he made in the park. I’m like, “Dude, chill. I just ruined my life here.” But he’s relentless. “You gotta see this!” So, I reluctantly follow him to the park on the Langestraat. And OMG, you won’t believe it. There’s this massive, ancient oak tree. I mean, it’s HUGE! Jeroen’s like, “This tree is over 300 years old!” I’m standing there, jaw on the ground, thinking, “This is the coolest thing ever!” But then, I notice a bunch of kids climbing it. I’m like, “Hey, be careful!” But they just laugh and keep climbing. Kids these days, right? Then, outta nowhere, this old lady comes up to us. She’s got this wild hair and a basket full of flowers. She starts telling us about the tree’s history. Apparently, it’s been a landmark for ages. I’m thinking, “Wow, Delden’s got some serious history.” But then she starts talking about how the tree is cursed. I’m like, “Cursed? Seriously?” But she’s dead serious. She says if you climb it, you’ll have bad luck. I’m looking at those kids, and I’m like, “Good luck with that, kiddos!” But then, I start to feel a bit paranoid. What if I’m cursed now? I mean, I just spilled coffee on my notes, right? So, I’m trying to shake it off when Jeroen suggests we grab some lunch at this cute little café on the Markt. I’m like, “Fine, but I’m getting a burger. I need comfort food.” We sit outside, and it’s all nice and sunny. I order the biggest burger they have. It’s massive! I’m talking two patties, cheese, the works. But then, as I’m about to take a bite, this pigeon swoops down and tries to steal my fries! I’m like, “Dude, back off!” But the pigeon’s relentless. I swear, it’s like a scene from a movie. I’m fighting off this bird while trying to eat. Jeroen’s dying laughing. After lunch, we decide to stroll around the town. Delden is so pretty, with all those old buildings and canals. I love it here. We walk down the Kerkstraat, and I’m just soaking it all in. But then, I see this sign for a local festival happening next week. I’m like, “Why didn’t I know about this?” So, I’m all excited, thinking about the food, the music, the people. But then, I remember I have to work. Ugh! Why can’t life just be fun all the time? As we’re walking back, I trip over a cobblestone. Classic me, right? I’m like, “Great, now I’m cursed AND clumsy.” Jeroen helps me up, and we both just crack up. Finally, we head back to the lab. I’m exhausted but happy. I mean, yeah, the day was a rollercoaster, but that’s life, right? Delden’s got its quirks, but it’s home. And honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, here I am, sitting on my couch, reflecting on the day. I’m still a bit worried about that curse, though. Maybe I should avoid climbing trees for a while. Just in case.
