Man, what a day! Seriously, Elst, you’ve got me all kinds of twisted. So, I woke up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local bakery on De Langenberg. You know, the one with the best broodjes? I’m standing there, drooling over the display, when this old dude cuts in front of me. Like, bro, really? I’m about to lose it. But I just smile and wait. Patience, right? Finally, I grab my kaasbroodje and a coffee. Life’s good again. Then I decide to stroll down the Hoofdstraat. It’s a cute street, full of shops and stuff. I’m vibing, listening to my tunes, when I see this street performer. He’s playing the accordion, and honestly, he’s killing it! I’m bopping along, feeling all the feels. But then, outta nowhere, a pigeon poops on my shoulder. Like, seriously?! I’m standing there, covered in bird crap, and I can’t help but laugh. Only in Elst, man. So, I head over to the park by the Elsterbeek. It’s a nice spot, perfect for chilling. I plop down on a bench, trying to clean my shoulder. I’m just about to take a sip of my coffee when this kid runs by, chasing a soccer ball. He kicks it, and guess what? It lands right in my lap. I’m like, “Dude, is this a sign?” I toss it back, and the kid gives me a thumbs up. Sweet little moment, right? But then, the day takes a turn. I decide to check out the local market on the Markt. It’s buzzing with people, and I’m feeling the energy. I grab some fresh veggies, and I’m all set to make a killer dinner. But then, I overhear this couple arguing. Like, full-on shouting. They’re going at it about... I don’t even know what. But it’s awkward, and I’m just standing there, pretending to look at tomatoes. After that drama, I’m like, “I need a drink.” So, I hit up my fave café on De Langenberg again. I order a beer, and the bartender’s like, “You look like you’ve had a day.” I laugh and tell him about the pigeon. He’s cracking up, and I’m feeling better. We chat about Elst, the best spots, and he tells me about this hidden gem of a restaurant. I’m definitely checking that out. As the sun starts to set, I wander back home. The streets are all lit up, and it’s kinda magical. I pass by the old church on the Kerkstraat, and it hits me how beautiful Elst can be. I mean, yeah, it’s a small town, but it’s got character. Finally, I get home, and I’m exhausted. I flop on the couch, thinking about the day. It was wild, emotional, and full of surprises. Elst, you’ve got my heart racing. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
