Man, what a day! I swear, being a dispatcher in Ermelo is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I roll into the office, right? It’s like 7 AM, and I’m already half asleep. The coffee machine is broken. Great start, huh? First call comes in. Some dude on De Bovenweg is freaking out. His car won’t start. I mean, c’mon, bro, it’s not rocket science! Just turn the key! But no, he’s acting like it’s the end of the world. I send a guy over, and while I’m on the line, I can hear him yelling about how he’s gonna miss his appointment at the dentist. Like, dude, it’s just a cleaning, chill! Then, outta nowhere, I get a call from a lady on De Linde. She’s lost her cat. I’m like, “Lady, it’s a cat, not a kid!” But she’s crying, and I can’t just hang up. So, I’m trying to calm her down, telling her to shake the treat bag. I mean, who doesn’t love snacks, right? Next, I get a call from a guy on De Wetering. He’s stuck in traffic on the N302. I’m like, “Welcome to Ermelo, buddy!” Traffic here is a nightmare. I swear, it’s like everyone decided to drive at 20 km/h today. I can’t even! Then, I get a call about a tree down on De Wetering. Seriously? A tree? I’m thinking, “What’s next, a cow on the road?” But nope, it’s just a big ol’ tree blocking the way. I send a crew out, and they’re like, “We’ll be there in 20.” Yeah, right! I know how that goes. Around noon, I finally get a break. I grab a quick bite at the local snackbar. Best frikandel ever! I’m sitting there, thinking, “Man, this is the life.” But then my phone buzzes. Another call. A kid on De Klinker is stuck in a tree. I’m like, “What is this, a day for climbing?” I send someone over, and while I’m waiting, I can’t help but laugh. I mean, who climbs trees in Ermelo? But hey, kids will be kids, right? Afternoon rolls around, and I’m still buzzing from all the chaos. I get a call about a lost dog on De Klinker. I’m like, “What’s with all the lost pets today?” I swear, it’s like a pet escape day or something. Then, I get a call from a guy on De Klinker again. He’s locked out of his house. I’m thinking, “Dude, did you forget your keys again?” But I send someone over anyway. By the time it’s 5 PM, I’m ready to crash. But nope, one last call comes in. A lady on De Klinker (seriously, what’s up with that street?) is complaining about noise. I’m like, “Lady, it’s Ermelo! What do you expect?” Finally, I wrap up my day. I’m exhausted but kinda happy. I mean, it’s chaotic, but it’s my chaos. I love this town, even with all its quirks. Ermelo, you crazy little place, you keep me on my toes! So, yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in Ermelo. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
