Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I wake up in Kapelle, right? It’s this chill little town in Zeeland, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be a breeze.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT a breeze. First off, I’m strolling down the Hoofdstraat, thinking about grabbing a coffee at that cute little café, De Koffieboon. But guess what? It’s closed! Like, who closes a coffee shop on a Tuesday? Ugh! I was ready to throw a fit. I mean, c’mon, I need my caffeine fix! So, I’m wandering around, and I bump into this old dude by the church on the Kerkstraat. He’s feeding pigeons, and I’m like, “Dude, you know those things are basically flying rats, right?” But he just laughs and says, “They’re my friends.” Friends? Really? I can’t even with this guy. Then, I decide to hit up the park, you know, the one by the water? It’s called the Kapelle Park or something. I sit down on a bench, and it’s all peaceful and stuff. I’m finally chillin’, and then BOOM! A kid runs by, and his soccer ball smacks me right in the leg. Like, what the heck, kid? I’m not your target practice! I’m about to yell, but then I see him smile, and I just can’t. Kids, man. They’re like little bundles of chaos. After that, I’m feeling a bit better, so I head over to the local market on the Markt. It’s buzzing with people, and I’m like, “Yes! This is the vibe!” I grab some fresh stroopwafels—OMG, they’re heavenly! But then, I see this lady arguing with a vendor over some tomatoes. Like, chill out, lady! They’re just tomatoes! But she’s going off, and I’m standing there, popcorn in hand, just watching the drama unfold. And then, outta nowhere, it starts to rain. I mean, seriously? I look up, and it’s like the sky just decided to dump a bucket of water on us. I’m sprinting down the Zandweg, trying to find shelter, and I slip on some wet leaves. Classic me, right? I’m flailing like a fish outta water, and this group of teenagers just laughs at me. Thanks, guys. Real supportive. Finally, I duck into this little shop on the Molenstraat. It’s a thrift store, and I’m browsing through some old vinyl records. I find this gem from the ‘80s, and I’m like, “Heck yes!” But then, I realize I left my wallet at home. Ugh! I’m about to cry. So, I leave the store, feeling defeated, and I’m walking back home, just thinking about how this day went from chill to chaotic in like, two seconds. But then, I see the sunset over the water near the Kapelle harbor. It’s stunning! The sky’s all orange and pink, and I’m just standing there, soaking it in. I pull out my phone to snap a pic, and I think, “Okay, maybe today wasn’t a total disaster.” I mean, yeah, I got rained on, almost got hit by a soccer ball, and lost my wallet, but I also saw some cool stuff and met some interesting people. So, I get home, and I’m like, “What a wild ride.” Kapelle, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart. Even if you do have the weirdest coffee shop hours.
