Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in Leerdam, right? This cute lil’ town in the Netherlands, known for its glass and all that jazz. I mean, who knew glass could be so fancy? Anyway, I’m the Program Director for some artsy stuff, and today was supposed to be chill. Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m running late. Classic me. I sprint down the Nieuweweg, dodging cyclists like I’m in some sort of twisted video game. Like, why do they think they own the road? I’m just trying to get to the meeting at the glass museum. Yeah, the GLASmuseum. Super cool place, but I’m not here to admire glass art. I’m here to talk about our next exhibition. So, I finally get there, and guess what? The meeting room is double-booked. Ugh! I’m fuming. I mean, come on, people! How hard is it to check a calendar? I could feel my blood boiling. I’m about to unleash my inner Hulk when I spot this cute café nearby on the Varkensmarkt. Coffee fixes everything, right? I grab a cappuccino, and it’s like heaven in a cup. Seriously, I could marry that barista. But then, I spill it all over my shirt. Great. Just great. Now I look like I’ve been in a food fight. I’m standing there, trying to dab it off with napkins, and this old lady walks by and gives me the dirtiest look. Like, lady, it’s just coffee! Chill out! After that, I head back to the museum, and guess what? The meeting room is still occupied. I’m about to lose it. But then, I see this group of kids outside, playing with these glass marbles. They’re laughing, and it’s contagious. I can’t help but smile. Kids have this magic, you know? They remind you that life’s not all about meetings and deadlines. Finally, we get a room. The meeting starts, and I’m trying to pitch this idea for an exhibition on modern glass art. But half the people are on their phones. Like, hello? I’m pouring my heart out here! I even throw in a joke about how glass is like relationships—fragile but beautiful. Crickets. Seriously, I could hear a pin drop. Then, outta nowhere, this guy named Jan raises his hand. He’s like, “What if we do an interactive exhibit?” Boom! Lightbulb moment! I’m all in. We start brainstorming, and suddenly, the room’s buzzing. It’s like magic. I’m feeling pumped, and we’re bouncing ideas off each other like crazy. After the meeting, I stroll down the Molenstraat, feeling like a rockstar. I’m thinking, “Yeah, we got this!” But then, I trip over a cobblestone. Classic. I’m sprawled out on the ground, and this couple walks by, trying not to laugh. I just wave it off like, “I meant to do that.” Later, I decide to check out the local market on the Markt. It’s bustling! Fresh veggies, flowers, and all these cute little stalls. I grab some stroopwafels—OMG, they’re to die for! I’m munching away, and life feels good again. But then, I see this guy trying to sell these weird glass sculptures. I mean, they look like something outta a horror movie. I’m like, “Who buys this stuff?” But then, I overhear him talking about how he’s been doing this for years. He’s passionate, and it hits me. Everyone’s got their hustle, right? As the sun sets, I’m walking back home, reflecting on the day. It was a rollercoaster, for sure. From anger to joy to surprise. Leerdam, you’ve got my heart. You’re quirky, you’re beautiful, and you’ve got this vibe that just sticks with you. So yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in Leerdam. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
