Man, lemme tell ya about my day in Lent. Wow, just wow. So, I’m a combine harvester, right? Not your usual 9-to-5 gig. But today? Today was a whole different level of crazy. First off, I roll into Lent, and it’s like, what’s up with the weather? One minute it’s sunny, the next it’s pouring like the sky’s got a grudge. I’m parked on the Hoofdstraat, just chillin’, and boom! Rain hits. I’m like, great, just great. My shiny machine’s gonna look like a muddy mess. So, I’m sittin’ there, and I see this dude on a bike. He’s zoomin’ down the street, right? And then—WHAM! He hits a puddle and splashes water all over some poor lady. She’s just minding her own business, and now she’s soaked. I can’t help but laugh. Like, dude, that’s karma right there. Then I head over to the Markt. Man, the vibe there is always lit. People everywhere, food stalls, and the smell? Ugh, to die for. I grab a frikandel speciaal. You know, the one with the sauce and onions? Heaven in a bun, I swear. But then, I drop it. Yup, right on the ground. I’m like, nooooo! My heart shattered. After that, I’m wandering around, trying to shake off the bad luck. I hit up the Kerkstraat, and there’s this street performer. He’s juggling flaming torches, and I’m just standing there, mouth agape. Like, how do you even do that? I can barely juggle my own life, let alone fire. But then, outta nowhere, this kid runs up to me. He’s like, “Mister, can I ride your combine?” I’m like, “Dude, it’s not a toy!” But he’s got those puppy eyes, and I’m like, fine, just for a sec. So, I let him hop in, and he’s grinning like he just won the lottery. That made my day, honestly. But then, I get a call. My boss is like, “Where are you?” I’m like, “Dude, I’m in Lent!” And he’s all, “Get back to work!” Ugh, the stress! I’m trying to enjoy my day, and he’s ruining it. So, I’m back on the road, and I hit the Zandstraat. It’s a narrow street, and I’m sweating bullets trying to maneuver my big machine. I swear, I almost took out a mailbox. That would’ve been a disaster. Finally, I park it for the day. I’m exhausted but kinda happy. Lent’s got this charm, ya know? The people, the streets, the chaos. It’s wild, but I love it. As I’m driving home, I can’t help but think about that kid. He was so stoked. Made me realize, sometimes it’s the little things that matter. Even if my day was a rollercoaster, it was mine. So yeah, that was my day in Lent. Full of ups and downs, but hey, that’s life, right?
