Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in my little shack on de Lindelaan, right? The sun’s barely up, and I’m already thinking about the charcoal I gotta burn today. You know, the usual grind. But today? Nah, today was anything but usual. First off, I head down to the market on de Hoofdstraat. I’m just tryna grab some supplies, ya know? But then, bam! I run into old Jan. That dude’s always got some wild story. He starts rambling about how he saw a fox in the park near de Korenbloemstraat. A fox! In Lindenheuvel! I mean, come on, that’s like seeing a unicorn. I’m half-listening, half-rolling my eyes, but he’s so animated, I can’t help but chuckle. Then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. Like, seriously, it’s like the sky opened up. I’m soaked in seconds. I’m standing there, drenched, and Jan’s still going on about the fox. I’m like, “Dude, I’m gonna drown here!” But he just laughs and says, “Better than burning charcoal!” Classic Jan. So, I finally escape the rain and head back to my spot. I’m all set to start burning, right? But then I notice my stash of wood is all wet. Ugh! I’m fuming. I mean, who wants to deal with soggy wood? Not me! I’m cursing under my breath, thinking about how I’m gonna get this fire going. But then, I get a surprise. My buddy, Koen, shows up with a couple of beers. He’s like, “Thought you could use a drink!” I’m like, “You’re a lifesaver, man!” We crack open a couple, and suddenly, the day doesn’t seem so bad. We’re laughing, joking about the fox, and I forget all about the wet wood. Then, outta nowhere, this kid rides by on a bike. He’s zooming down de Zonnebloemstraat, and I swear he’s going like 100 km/h. I’m thinking, “Dude, slow down! You’ll end up in the canal!” But he just waves and keeps going. Kids these days, right? After a few more laughs, Koen and I finally get the fire going. It’s crackling, and the smell of burning wood fills the air. I’m feeling good again. But then, I hear this loud crash. I look over, and some guy just knocked over a trash can. Seriously? In the middle of my zen moment? I’m ready to go off, but then I see it’s just a couple of kids messing around. I can’t help but laugh. As the sun starts to set, the sky turns this crazy orange. I’m sitting there, sipping my beer, and I think, “Man, this is life.” I mean, sure, it’s chaotic, but it’s my chaos. I love this little town. Lindenheuvel might be small, but it’s got character. So, yeah, that was my day. From foxes to wet wood to crazy kids, it was a rollercoaster. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in Lindenheuvel, where the unexpected is the norm. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
