Man, what a day! I swear, Naaldwijk really knows how to throw a curveball. I woke up this morning, sun shining through my window on the Hoofdstraat. Thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was anything but. First off, I had an auction lined up at the old school building on de Laan van de Korenbloem. You know, the one that looks like it’s been there since the dinosaurs? Yeah, that one. I get there, and the place is packed. Like, standing-room-only packed. I’m thinkin’, “Great, more eyes on me.” No pressure, right? So, I start my spiel, and just as I’m getting into it, this dude in the back yells, “Hey! You missed my bid!” I’m like, “Bro, chill! I’m not a mind reader!” But he’s all worked up, waving his hands like he’s trying to take off. I mean, c’mon, it’s just an old vase! But nah, he’s convinced it’s a family heirloom or something. Then, outta nowhere, the fire alarm goes off. Seriously? In the middle of my auction? I’m standing there, trying to keep it together while everyone’s scrambling for the exits. I’m like, “Guys, it’s just a drill! Or is it?!” My heart’s racing, and I’m thinking, “This is how I go out? In Naaldwijk, with a bunch of angry bidders?” Finally, we get outside, and I’m trying to calm everyone down. I’m like, “Look, if we all survive this, I’ll throw in a free coffee!” That got a few laughs. But then, I see the fire truck roll up, and I’m like, “Great, now I’m gonna be late for my next gig.” After the chaos, we finally get back inside. I’m sweating bullets, but I push through. The bids start flying, and I’m feeling the energy. I mean, Naaldwijk’s got some serious talent in the crowd. People are shouting, and I’m just trying to keep up. It’s like a game of verbal ping-pong. Then, I spot this old lady in the front row. She’s got this fierce look, like she’s ready to take on the world. She bids on everything! I’m talking, “Do you want the vase? How about a chair? Oh, you want the painting too?” She’s a legend! I’m half-expecting her to bid on my jacket next. But then, just when I think it can’t get crazier, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy, Jan, texting me about a surprise party for my birthday later. I’m like, “Dude, my bday’s not for another month!” But he’s all, “Yeah, but we’re in Naaldwijk, and we do things differently here!” So, I’m juggling bids, fire alarms, and surprise parties. My head’s spinning. I’m laughing, I’m sweating, I’m just trying to keep it all together. And then, I see the clock. Time’s running out! I’m like, “Last chance, folks! Who wants this vase?!” Finally, we wrap it up, and I’m exhausted but happy. I mean, Naaldwijk really knows how to keep things interesting. I step outside, and the sun’s setting over the Westland. It’s beautiful, and I can’t help but smile. As I’m walking home down de Herenstraat, I think about how wild today was. I mean, who knew an auction could be so intense? But that’s Naaldwijk for ya. Always full of surprises, always keeping you on your toes. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, emotional rollercoaster in Naaldwijk. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
