Man, what a day! I swear, being a gardener in Noordwijkerhout is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head down to the Keukenhofweg. You know, the road that’s basically a flower parade? I’m cruising along, thinking about my plans for the day. Gonna prune some roses, maybe plant a few tulips. But then, BAM! I see this massive truck blocking the road. Like, seriously? Who does that? I’m stuck there, fuming, thinking about how I could be digging in the dirt instead of waiting for some dude to finish his coffee. Finally, I get past that mess and hit the park. Oh man, the flowers are in full bloom! I’m talking colors that make your eyes pop. I’m feeling all zen, you know? But then, outta nowhere, this kid runs up to me. He’s got dirt all over his face and a worm in his hand. “Look, mister! I found a squirmy!” I’m like, “That’s great, buddy, but can you not wave it in my face?” Kids, man. They’re wild. So, I’m trying to get back to my zen vibes, right? I start pruning these roses on the Van der Waalstraat. They’re beautiful, but they’ve got thorns like they’re guarding a treasure. I’m focused, snipping away, when I hear this loud crash. I look up, and some guy just knocked over a whole cart of flowers! I’m talking tulips everywhere! I’m like, “Dude, what’s wrong with you?” He just shrugs and walks off. I mean, come on! After that chaos, I decide to take a break. I stroll over to the local café on the Hoofdstraat. Grab a coffee, right? I sit down, and this old lady starts chatting me up. She’s telling me about her garden and how she used to grow the biggest sunflowers. I’m nodding along, but inside I’m thinking, “Lady, I’m just trying to enjoy my coffee.” But she’s sweet, so I let her ramble. Then, I get a text from my buddy. He’s like, “Yo, you gotta see this!” I’m intrigued, so I rush over to the beach. The Noordwijkerhout beach is usually my happy place. But today? It’s packed! I can’t even find a spot to breathe. I’m dodging kids, dogs, and beach balls. I finally spot my buddy, and he’s got this ridiculous sun hat on. I can’t help but laugh. We chill for a bit, but then I see this guy trying to impress some girl by showing off his “sick” sandcastle. It’s a disaster! I’m talking more like a sand pile than a castle. I can’t help but shout, “Dude, that’s not a castle, that’s a sand flop!” Everyone laughs, and the guy just turns red. As the sun starts to set, I’m walking back home, thinking about the day. It was a mess, but a fun mess. I love Noordwijkerhout. The streets, the flowers, the people. It’s chaotic, but it’s my chaos. I get home, kick off my shoes, and plop on the couch. I’m exhausted but happy. Tomorrow’s another day. More flowers, more craziness. Bring it on, Noordwijkerhout! 🌼
