Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a carpenter in Oosteinde is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s barely up, and I’m already feelin’ the weight of the world. I grab my coffee from that little café on de Hoofdstraat. You know the one? The one with the weirdly shaped croissants? Yeah, that place. So, I’m sippin’ my coffee, and I see this old dude, Jan, who’s always hangin’ around. He’s got this wild beard, looks like he’s been lost in the woods for a decade. He starts tellin’ me about his cat, Minoes. Apparently, Minoes caught a mouse, and Jan’s all proud. I’m like, “Dude, it’s a cat. That’s what they do.” But hey, it made me chuckle. Then I head over to my workshop on de Zandweg. It’s a cozy little spot, but man, it’s packed. I got wood everywhere! I’m talkin’ planks, beams, you name it. I’m tryin’ to find my tools, and I trip over a stack of plywood. Classic me, right? I’m cursing under my breath, but it’s all good. Just another day in paradise. So, I get a call from this client. She wants a custom table. “Make it big, make it beautiful!” she says. I’m like, “Sure, lady, I’ll just whip up a masterpiece in my spare time.” But I’m excited. I love makin’ stuff. I head to the market on de Kerkstraat to grab some supplies. Oosteinde’s market is the best! Fresh veggies, flowers, and all that jazz. I bump into my buddy, Koen. He’s sellin’ these crazy wooden toys. I’m like, “Dude, you should charge more!” He just laughs, says he’s happy to make kids smile. But then, outta nowhere, it starts pourin’. I mean, like, buckets of rain! I’m soaked in seconds. I’m runnin’ back to my workshop, dodging puddles like I’m in some weird video game. I get back, and my tools are all wet. Great. Just great. I’m tryin’ to dry everything off when I hear this loud crash outside. I rush out, and some guy just smashed his bike into a lamppost on de Laan. He’s fine, but his bike? Total wreck. I can’t help but laugh. I mean, come on! Who crashes into a lamppost? After that, I finally get to work on that table. I’m cuttin’, sanding, and just lost in the zone. It’s like therapy, ya know? But then, I realize I messed up a cut. I’m fumin’. I mean, how do I screw that up? I take a deep breath, grab a beer from the fridge, and chill for a sec. Later, I head to the park on de Weide. It’s a nice spot, perfect for unwinding. I sit on a bench, watchin’ the ducks. They’re quackin’ away, livin’ their best lives. I’m thinkin’, “Man, I wish I could just be a duck.” No worries, just floatin’ around. As the sun sets, I’m walkin’ home, and I see the lights on de Dorpsstraat. It’s beautiful. Oosteinde really knows how to light up the night. I’m feelin’ grateful, despite the chaos. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, laughs and frustrations. Just another wild ride in Oosteinde. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
