Man, what a day in Ouddorp! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local bakery on the Hoofdstraat. You know, the one with the best broodjes? I’m talking about those fresh rolls that make you wanna cry. I grab a kaasbroodje, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. But then, bam! I spill coffee all over my shirt. Classic me, right? I’m standing there, looking like a walking disaster. So, I’m like, “Whatever, let’s go explore.” I stroll down the Havenstraat, and it’s all cute little shops and stuff. I pop into this vintage store. I’m digging through racks, and I find this sick jacket. Totally my vibe. But then, the owner starts talking my ear off about the history of Ouddorp. Like, dude, I just wanna buy a jacket, not a history lesson! But then, he drops this gem: Ouddorp used to be an island! Mind blown. I mean, I knew it was coastal, but an island? That’s wild. I’m standing there, half-listening, half-trying to figure out how to get out of this convo. Next, I head to the beach. Oh man, the beach! It’s like a postcard. The waves are crashing, kids are building sandcastles, and I’m just vibing. But then, I see this seagull swoop down and steal a kid’s fries. Like, what a savage! The kid starts crying, and I’m just standing there, laughing. I know, I’m terrible. But c’mon, it was hilarious! After that, I decide to hit up the Ouddorp Museum. I’m thinking, “Let’s get cultured.” But it’s closed! Like, seriously? I’m standing there, staring at the locked door, feeling all kinds of betrayed. I mean, who closes a museum on a Saturday? So, I’m wandering around, and I end up on the Korteweg. I see this little café, and I’m like, “Why not?” I grab a slice of appeltaart, and it’s like a slice of heaven. I’m talking about the kind of dessert that makes you forget your problems. But then, I realize I’ve got crumbs all over my face. Great, just great. Then, I decide to check out the local market. It’s buzzing! Fresh veggies, flowers, and all that good stuff. I’m chatting with the vendors, and they’re super friendly. I buy some local cheese, and this lady tells me about the best way to eat it. I’m like, “Lady, I just wanted cheese, not a cooking class!” But she’s sweet, so I just nod along. As the day winds down, I’m walking back to my car, and I see this sunset over the water. It’s stunning. Like, the sky is on fire. I pull out my phone to snap a pic, and my battery dies. Ugh! Just my luck, right? So, I’m driving home, and I’m thinking about the day. It was a rollercoaster, for sure. Ouddorp, you’ve got my heart. From the coffee spills to the seagull heists, it was a wild ride. I can’t wait to come back and do it all over again. Just maybe with a bib next time.
