Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in Purmerend, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I grab my coffee from that little café on de Gors. You know the one? The barista there is always super grumpy. Like, dude, it’s coffee, not rocket science! Anyway, I get my usual, a cappuccino with extra foam. I’m feeling good, ready to tackle the day. Then, boom! My phone buzzes. It’s a client, freaking out about their car insurance. Apparently, they crashed their ride on de Rijp. I mean, come on! How do you crash on a straight road? I rush over there, dodging cyclists on de Waterlandlaan. Seriously, those bike lanes are a death trap! When I get there, I see the car. It’s a mess. I’m talking fender bender, bumper hanging off, the whole shebang. My client is crying. Like, full-on tears. I’m trying to be supportive, but inside I’m like, “Dude, it’s just a car!” I mean, it’s not like it’s a puppy or something. After calming them down, I start taking notes. I’m scribbling on my notepad, and guess what? I spill coffee all over it! Great, just great. Now my notes look like a toddler’s art project. I’m trying to salvage it, but it’s a lost cause. Next, I head over to the office on de Kade. I’m late, of course. My boss is gonna kill me. I rush in, and he’s already pacing like a lion in a cage. “Where have you been?” he barks. I’m like, “Dude, car accident, you know how it is.” He rolls his eyes. Classic. So, I sit down, and my computer decides to crash. Perfect timing, right? I’m staring at the screen, and it’s just frozen. I’m about to lose it. I mean, can’t a guy catch a break? I take a deep breath, channel my inner zen, and restart it. Finally, I get some work done. I’m on the phone with a client from de Kogge. They’re asking about life insurance. I’m trying to explain it, but they keep interrupting me with random questions about their cat. Like, what? I’m here to talk about insurance, not Fluffy’s diet! By the time I finish, it’s already late afternoon. I step outside, and it’s raining. Of course, it is. I forgot my umbrella. I’m sprinting down de Purmerenderweg, dodging puddles like I’m in some kind of obstacle course. I’m soaked, but I can’t help but laugh. It’s just so ridiculous. Then, I bump into an old friend from high school. We start chatting, and it turns out he’s a chef now. He invites me to his restaurant on de Dijk. I’m like, “Heck yeah, free food!” So, I go, and the food is AMAZING. I’m talking gourmet burgers and fries that are to die for. As I’m eating, I realize how lucky I am. Sure, the day was a mess, but I got to help people, reconnect with an old friend, and eat like a king. Purmerend may be small, but it’s got its charm. So, I head home, exhausted but happy. I think about all the craziness. Life’s wild, man. You never know what’s gonna happen next. But hey, that’s what makes it fun, right? And that’s a wrap on my day in Purmerend. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
