Man, what a day! Seriously, Sassenheim is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be just another chill day. Boy, was I wrong. First off, I hit the streets of Sassenheim, right? I’m strolling down the Hoofdstraat, feeling all good. Then, bam! I trip over some random bike. Like, who leaves their bike in the middle of the sidewalk? Ugh! I was so mad. I mean, come on, people! Anyway, I shake it off and head to the market. The smell of fresh stroopwafels hits me. OMG, I love those things! I grab one, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. But then, I see this dude trying to haggle over a bunch of flowers. Like, bro, it’s just flowers! They’re not gonna give you a discount for your sad face. So, I’m munching on my stroopwafel, and I spot my friend Lisa. She’s at the café on the corner of de Zwartelaan, looking all stressed. Turns out, she lost her wallet. I’m like, “Girl, you gotta keep it together!” But I help her look for it. We’re searching everywhere, even in the bushes. No luck. Then, outta nowhere, this old lady comes up to us. She’s like, “You two look like you need some tea.” I’m thinking, “Lady, we need a miracle, not tea!” But she insists, so we follow her to her house on the other side of the park. Her place is cozy, like a grandma’s hug. She brews us some tea, and we spill our woes. I’m telling her about my bike incident, and she’s cracking up. I mean, who knew old ladies had such a sense of humor? After tea, we head back to the market. I’m still on the hunt for Lisa’s wallet. We check every stall. I’m getting frustrated. I mean, how can you lose a wallet in Sassenheim? It’s not that big! Then, I see it. A flash of brown leather at the flower stall. I sprint over, and there it is! Lisa’s wallet! I’m like, “Dude, we found it!” She’s jumping up and down, and I’m just laughing. But wait, the day’s not done yet. We decide to celebrate with some fries at the Frietkot on the corner of de Zwartelaan. I order mine with mayo, of course. Lisa goes for the satay sauce. We’re sitting there, munching away, when this guy walks by with a parrot on his shoulder. A freakin’ parrot! In Sassenheim! I can’t even. I’m like, “Is that a pet or a fashion statement?” Lisa’s dying laughing. The guy stops and says, “It’s both, mate!” I mean, only in Sassenheim, right? As the sun sets, we walk along the canal. It’s beautiful, the water reflecting the orange sky. I’m feeling all the feels. Like, this day was a rollercoaster. From tripping over bikes to finding lost wallets and parrot fashion shows. I get home, and I’m exhausted but happy. Sassenheim, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s adventures!
