Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, Scheveningen really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was anything but chill. First off, I’m a violin maker, yeah? So, I’m all about that wood and strings life. I head down to the beach, thinking I’ll get some inspiration from the waves or whatever. You know, the whole “be one with nature” vibe. I stroll down the Keizerstraat, and it’s packed! Tourists everywhere, like ants at a picnic. I’m dodging strollers and selfie sticks like I’m in some kind of obstacle course. Then, bam! I trip over some kid’s sandcastle. I’m like, “Dude, watch where you’re building!” The kid just stares at me, like I’m the villain in his beach story. Whatever, kid. I’m not here to ruin your dreams. So, I finally make it to the beach. The sea’s all wild and frothy, and I’m feeling it. I sit down, pull out my sketchbook, and start doodling some ideas for a new violin. I’m thinking about using some local wood, maybe from a tree on the Scheveningen boulevard. You know, keep it real. But then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my sandwich! I’m like, “No way, dude!” I chase after it, flailing my arms like a madman. People are staring, laughing. I’m just a violin maker, not a bird wrangler! After that embarrassing moment, I decide to hit up the local market on the Strandweg. I need some wood, right? So, I’m wandering around, checking out the stalls. There’s this guy selling fresh herring. I’m not a fish guy, but the way he’s talking about it makes it sound like a gourmet meal. I’m tempted, but nah, I stick to my plan. I finally find this old dude selling reclaimed wood. He’s got this gnarly piece that’s perfect for a violin. I’m all excited, but then he tells me the price. I’m like, “Are you kidding me?!” I mean, I get it, it’s vintage and all, but c’mon! I haggle a bit, and we settle on a price that’s still too high, but whatever. I’m not leaving without that wood. Now, I’m feeling pretty good, right? I head back to my workshop on the Zwarte Pad, ready to create some magic. But then, I get a flat tire on my bike. Seriously? I’m cursing under my breath, trying to fix it. I’m sweating, and it’s not even noon yet. Finally, I get home, and I’m ready to dive into my work. I start shaping the wood, and it’s like therapy. The smell of the wood, the sound of my tools—it’s bliss. I’m lost in my world, and it feels amazing. But then, my neighbor starts blasting some awful techno music. I mean, come on! I’m trying to create art here! I can’t focus with that noise. I’m banging on the wall, yelling, “Turn it down!” But he’s in his own world, probably thinking he’s the next DJ superstar. After a while, I just give up and go for a walk. I hit the pier, and it’s beautiful. The sunset is painting the sky in crazy colors. I sit down, take a deep breath, and just soak it all in. This is why I love Scheveningen. It’s chaotic, it’s loud, but it’s home. As I’m sitting there, I see a couple getting engaged. The guy’s down on one knee, and I’m like, “Aww, that’s sweet.” I can’t help but smile. It’s moments like these that make all the craziness worth it. So, yeah, my day was a rollercoaster. From tripping over sandcastles to chasing seagulls, to haggling over wood, and dealing with techno neighbors. But in the end, it’s all part of the ride. Scheveningen, you wild city, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
