Man, what a day! Seriously, Schiedam is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be chill, just another day as a typhlopedagogue, right? But nah, the universe had other plans. So, I’m strolling down the Lange Haven, just vibing, when I spot this cute little café. You know, the one with the blue awning? Yeah, that one. I thought, “Why not grab a coffee?” I order my usual, a cappuccino, and the barista—bless her—totally messes it up. Like, how do you mess up a cappuccino? I mean, c’mon! I’m standing there, fuming, thinking about how I could’ve made it better myself. Then, I head over to the Windmill, you know, the one that’s like the symbol of Schiedam? It’s massive! I’m standing there, looking up, and I’m like, “Wow, this thing is older than my grandma!” I mean, it’s been grinding grain since forever. I get all philosophical for a sec, thinking about how time flies and stuff. But then, I trip over a cobblestone. Classic me, right? After that, I decide to check out the Schiedam Museum. I’m all excited, thinking I’ll learn something cool. But guess what? It’s closed for renovations. Ugh! I’m like, “Really? Today of all days?” So, I just stand there, staring at the door like it owes me money. Next, I wander down the Korte Haven. It’s so picturesque, with the boats and all. I’m snapping pics, feeling like a tourist in my own city. But then, I see this guy trying to park his bike. And let me tell you, it was a disaster. He’s struggling, and I’m just standing there, laughing. Like, dude, it’s a bike, not a spaceship! Then, I bump into an old friend, Jan. We used to hang out back in the day. He’s like, “Hey, remember that time we got lost in the city?” And I’m like, “Dude, we still get lost!” We start reminiscing about our wild nights at the local bars, like Café de Kade. Man, those were the days! But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. I mean, like, torrential downpour. I’m soaked in seconds. I’m running for cover, laughing and cursing at the same time. I duck into this random shop on the Hoogstraat. It’s a quirky little place, full of vintage stuff. I find this old record player, and I’m like, “I need this!” But my wallet’s like, “Nah, fam.” Finally, I decide to head home. I’m walking along the Vliet, just trying to dry off. The sunset is gorgeous, though. Like, the sky is on fire! I stop for a sec, just taking it all in. Schiedam, man. It’s got its quirks, but I love it. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, laughter and frustration. But hey, that’s life, right? Schiedam keeps me on my toes!
