Man, what a day! Seriously, Tiel is wild sometimes. I woke up thinking it’d be just another boring Tuesday. Boy, was I wrong! So, I’m a Refractor, right? Sounds fancy, but it’s just a cool way of saying I fix stuff. Glasses, lenses, you name it. Anyway, I roll outta bed, grab my coffee from that little café on de Waalkade. You know, the one with the weird art on the walls? Yeah, that one. I swear, their coffee is like liquid gold. I’m chugging my brew, feeling all hyped, when I get a call. It’s a customer. “Hey, my glasses broke!” Ugh, classic. I’m like, “Dude, how’d you manage that?” Turns out, he dropped them while trying to impress some girl at the park. Typical, right? So, I rush over to the park, which is like, a 10-minute walk from the café. I’m dodging people on the way, and I swear, some dude on a bike almost took me out. Like, chill, man! It’s not a race! Finally, I get to the park, and there’s my guy, looking all sheepish. He hands me the broken glasses, and I’m like, “Bro, these are toast.” But I can’t just leave him hanging, so I promise to fix them. Then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. I mean, like, buckets! I’m soaked in seconds. I’m standing there, trying to shield the glasses with my shirt, looking like a total idiot. And of course, the guy’s laughing. I’m like, “Yeah, real funny, dude.” After the rain, I head to the shop on de Korte Rijsdijk. It’s a small place, but I love it. The owner, Jan, is a legend. He’s got this crazy collection of vintage frames. I’m browsing, and I spot this retro pair that’s just screaming my name. But I’m broke, so I just drool over them instead. While I’m there, Jan tells me about this festival coming up. It’s gonna be lit! Food trucks, live music, the whole shebang. I’m already planning my outfit. Gotta look good, right? But then, I get a text. It’s my buddy, saying he’s stuck in traffic on de Laan van Westroijen. I’m like, “Dude, it’s Tiel, not Amsterdam!” But I can’t help but laugh. After fixing the glasses, I head back to the café. I’m starving, so I grab a slice of that famous Tielse vlaai. You know, the one with the cherries? It’s heavenly! I’m munching away, feeling all happy, when I overhear some tourists talking about the Waal river. They’re like, “Is it always this beautiful?” I’m thinking, “You have no idea!” But then, I see this kid drop his ice cream. My heart breaks a little. I mean, come on! So, I buy him another one. His face lights up, and I’m like, “See? Tiel’s not so bad!” As the day winds down, I’m walking along the river, just soaking it all in. The sunset is killer, painting the sky all sorts of colors. I’m feeling grateful, you know? Tiel might be small, but it’s got heart. So yeah, that was my day. Full of chaos, laughter, and a bit of kindness. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
