Man, what a day! I swear, being a stockbroker in Tilburg is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? It’s like 6 AM, and I’m already thinking about the markets. I grab my coffee from that little café on Heuvelstraat. You know the one? The one with the weird art on the walls. I’m like, “Great, let’s do this!” First thing, I check my phone. Boom! Stocks are crashing. I’m like, “What the actual heck?!” I mean, come on! I just bought a bunch of shares in some tech company. Ugh! I’m pacing around my tiny apartment on Spoorlaan, trying to figure out if I should sell or hold. My cat, Momo, is just staring at me like I’m the crazy one. So, I rush out, and it’s raining. Of course, it’s raining. Typical Tilburg, right? I’m dodging puddles on the way to the office. I pass by the Tilburg University, and I see a bunch of students. They’re all laughing and having a good time. I’m like, “You guys have no idea what adulting is like!” Finally, I get to the office on Ringbaan-West. My boss is already there, looking like he’s been through a war zone. He’s all stressed out, and I’m thinking, “Dude, chill! It’s just money!” But then, I see the numbers on the screen. My heart drops. I’m trying to make sense of it all. I’m shouting at my computer, “Why are you doing this to me?!” My colleagues are looking at me like I’m nuts. But hey, that’s just a Tuesday in Tilburg, right? Then, outta nowhere, my buddy Jeroen bursts in. He’s got this wild look in his eyes. “Dude, you won’t believe it! I just got a tip on this new startup!” I’m like, “Really? Is it legit?” He’s all excited, and I’m thinking, “This better not be another one of your scams.” We decide to grab lunch at that place on Korte Heuvel. You know, the one with the best fries? I’m stuffing my face, trying to forget about the market chaos. Jeroen’s going on about this startup, and I’m half-listening. I mean, I’m just trying to enjoy my fries, man! Suddenly, my phone buzzes. It’s a notification. Stocks are bouncing back! I’m like, “What?! Are you kidding me?!” I jump up, almost knocking over my drink. Jeroen’s laughing at me, and I’m just like, “This is why I love this job!” But then, just as quickly, it crashes again. I’m fuming. I can’t even. I’m ready to throw my phone out the window. I mean, who even controls this madness? I’m pacing again, and Jeroen’s trying to calm me down. “Breathe, man, breathe!” After lunch, I head back to the office, and I’m still in a funk. I walk past the old factory on the way. It’s such a cool spot, but today, it just looks sad. I’m thinking about how life can be like that sometimes. One minute you’re up, the next you’re down. Finally, the day wraps up. I’m exhausted. I head to the bar on the corner of Heuvelstraat for a drink. I need it. I sit down, and the bartender knows my order. “You look like you need this,” he says, sliding me a beer. I laugh. “You have no idea!” As I sip my drink, I think about Tilburg. It’s a wild city. Full of surprises. One minute you’re stressed, the next you’re laughing with friends. I love it, even when it drives me nuts. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, emotional ride in Tilburg. Can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow!
