Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I woke up in my tiny flat on the Houtmarkt, right? The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I decided to hit up the local café, De Koffiepot. Best coffee in Zutphen, hands down. I ordered my usual—cappuccino, extra foam, because why not? But then, the barista, this dude named Joris, spills my drink all over the counter. Like, come on, man! I’m not made of money! I just laughed it off, but inside, I was like, “Really? Is this how we’re starting?” After that, I strolled down the Walstraat. It’s such a cute street, with all those old buildings and shops. I love the vibe. But then, outta nowhere, I see this guy trying to sell me some weird herbal tea. He’s like, “This will change your life!” I’m like, “Dude, I just want to enjoy my day, not drink grass.” I mean, who even buys that stuff? Anyway, I kept walking, trying to shake off the weirdness. I hit the market at the Groenmarkt. It’s always buzzing with life. Fresh veggies, flowers, and all that jazz. I spotted this amazing cheese stall. You know me, I can’t resist cheese. I bought some aged Gouda, and let me tell you, it was heavenly. But then, I dropped it. Yup, right on the cobblestones. I was like, “Nooooo!” The cheese gods were not on my side today. So, I’m feeling a bit defeated, but I push on. I decide to check out the St. Walburgis Church. It’s stunning, right? I walk in, and it’s all quiet and peaceful. I’m just soaking it in when this kid starts screaming. Like, why? Why now? I’m trying to have a moment here! I couldn’t help but chuckle, though. Kids, man. After that, I needed a breather. I headed to the IJssel river. The view is just gorgeous. I sat on a bench, watching the boats go by. It was calming, you know? But then, this seagull swoops down and steals my sandwich! I’m like, “Seriously?!” I’m fighting with a bird over lunch. What’s my life? Feeling a bit hangry, I decided to grab a snack at the local bakery on the Bovenhaven. Best pastries ever! I got a slice of apple pie, and it was like a hug in dessert form. I was finally happy again. But then, I saw my ex walking by. Ugh, the universe has a sick sense of humor. I ducked behind a tree like a ninja. Not today, Satan! As the day went on, I wandered through the old town. The narrow streets, the canals, it’s all so picturesque. I love Zutphen! But then, I got lost. Like, how do you get lost in a small town? I ended up on the wrong side of the city, near the Berkel. I was like, “Great, just great.” Finally, I found my way back to the center. I was exhausted but happy. I decided to treat myself to dinner at a cozy spot on the Nieuwstad. The food was amazing, and I even made a new friend—a local artist who was super chill. We talked about life, art, and how Zutphen is the best-kept secret in the Netherlands. So, yeah, my day was a rollercoaster. From spilled coffee to stolen sandwiches, it was wild. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Zutphen, you crazy little town, you’ve got my heart. Can’t wait for the next adventure!
