Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a vet in Harstad is like a rollercoaster ride. So, I roll into the clinic on Strandgata, right? It’s a chilly morning, typical for this time of year. I’m already dreading the day. I mean, who wants to deal with sick pets before their coffee? Not me! First thing, I get a call. A cat named Mr. Whiskers. Classic, right? He’s stuck in a tree on Kystveien. Like, come on, dude! You’re a cat! Climb down! But nooo, the owner’s freaking out. So, I grab my gear and head out. Driving through Harstad is always a trip. The views are insane! You got the fjords on one side and those cute little houses on the other. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna live here? But then, bam! I hit a pothole on Storgata. Seriously, it felt like I was in a war zone. My coffee almost spilled everywhere. Ugh! Finally, I get to the tree. And there’s Mr. Whiskers, looking all smug. Like, “What’s the big deal?” I’m up there, trying to coax him down with treats. He’s just staring at me like I’m the crazy one. I’m like, “Dude, you’re the one in the tree!” After what feels like an eternity, he finally decides to come down. I swear, I almost cried. Next, I head back to the clinic. I’m still buzzing from the tree drama when I get another call. A dog named Rex. He’s been eating socks. Like, who lets their dog do that? I mean, come on! So, I’m thinking, “Great, another adventure.” I get to the house on Håkon den Godes gate, and the owner is panicking. Rex is just chillin’ on the couch, looking all innocent. I’m like, “Dude, you’re the sock thief!” I do my thing, check him out, and yep, there’s a sock lodged in there. I’m like, “This is gonna be fun.” Surgery time! I’m in the zone, but then the power goes out. Seriously? In the middle of surgery? I’m sweating bullets. I’m thinking, “What’s next? A meteor?” But luckily, the backup generator kicks in. Phew! After the surgery, I’m feeling like a rockstar. Rex is gonna be fine, and I’m ready for a break. But nope! I get a call about a parrot. A PARROT! It’s on the loose in a park near the harbor. I’m like, “What is this, a pet rescue mission?” So, I head to the park on Tjeldsundgata. It’s packed with people, and there’s this parrot just squawking away. I’m trying to catch it, but it’s like a scene from a comedy movie. People are laughing, and I’m just there, flailing my arms. Finally, I manage to grab it. The owner is so grateful, and I’m just relieved. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. I’m driving home, and I can’t help but think about how wild Harstad is. One minute you’re saving a cat, the next you’re wrestling a parrot. It’s never boring, that’s for sure. I pull into my driveway, and I’m just done. But then I see my dog, Bella, wagging her tail. And just like that, all the craziness melts away. I guess that’s why I do this job. It’s chaotic, but it’s also full of love. So, yeah, that was my day in Harstad. Just another day in the life of a vet. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
