Man, what a day! I’m an ichthyologist, right? So, I’m all about fish and stuff. But today? Today was a wild ride in Molde, Norway. Like, seriously, who knew this little town could throw so much at ya? First off, I woke up late. Classic me. Alarm didn’t go off. I’m like, “Great, just what I need.” I had a meeting with some local fishermen at the harbor. You know, the Molde harbor? It’s beautiful, with those colorful boats bobbing around. But I was running on fumes. I threw on my favorite fish-themed shirt—yeah, I know, nerd alert—and bolted out the door. I sprinted down Storgata, dodging tourists and their selfie sticks. Like, come on, people! It’s a street, not a photo op! I finally made it to the harbor, panting like a dog. The fishermen were already there, laughing and joking. I felt like a total loser. But then, they offered me some fresh catch. I mean, who can say no to that? We started talking about the local fish species. Did you know Molde is famous for its cod? Yeah, cod! They were telling me about this legendary cod that supposedly weighs a ton. Okay, maybe not a ton, but you get it. I was all in, taking notes, and then BAM! A seagull swoops down and snatches a fish right outta my hand. I was like, “Dude, that’s my lunch!” The fishermen laughed so hard, I thought they’d fall over. After that, I decided to check out the Romsdalsfjord. It’s stunning, man. The mountains, the water, the whole vibe. I took a deep breath, trying to soak it all in. But then, I saw this guy trying to fish off the pier. He was struggling, like, really struggling. I couldn’t help myself. I yelled, “Hey, buddy! You need a hand?” He looked at me like I was nuts. But I went over anyway. Turns out, he was using the wrong bait. I showed him some tricks. He caught a fish! I felt like a hero. But then, the weather turned. Typical Molde, right? One minute it’s sunny, the next it’s pouring. I got soaked. I mean, drenched. I was standing there, looking like a wet dog, and I couldn’t stop laughing. I thought, “This is gonna make a great story.” So, I ducked into a café on Øvre Molde. Best decision ever. I ordered a coffee and a slice of kringle. If you haven’t had kringle, you’re missing out. It’s like a pastry hug. I sat there, watching the rain, feeling all cozy. Then, I overheard some locals talking about the Molde Jazz Festival. I had no idea it was coming up! I love jazz! I was like, “Count me in!” After the rain let up, I decided to explore more. I wandered down to the Molde Cathedral. It’s this beautiful building, all white and majestic. I just stood there, taking it all in. But then, I saw a group of kids playing soccer nearby. They were kicking the ball around, having a blast. I thought, “Man, I miss being a kid.” So, I joined in. Yeah, I played soccer in my fish shirt. I’m sure I looked ridiculous, but who cares? By the time I got back to my hotel, I was exhausted but happy. I flopped onto the bed, thinking about all the crazy stuff that happened. Molde is wild, man. It’s got this charm that just pulls you in. I can’t wait to come back. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of fish, laughter, and a bit of chaos. Just another day in the life of an ichthyologist in Molde. Can’t wait for the next adventure!
