Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I wake up in my tiny apartment on Krossveien, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m a financial analyst, but today felt more like a rollercoaster. I grab my coffee from that cute little café on Langgata. You know the one? The barista always messes up my name. “Latte for ‘Mikayla’!” Ugh, it’s Mikayla, not Mikayla. Whatever, I’m not here for a spelling bee. So, I’m walking down the street, feeling all good, when I trip over a loose cobblestone. Like, come on, Sandnes! Fix your streets! I’m already late for a meeting. My boss is gonna flip. I can already hear him: “Mikayla, punctuality is key!” Yeah, well, so is not tripping over ancient rocks! Finally, I get to the office on Jørpelandsveien, and my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy Lars. He’s like, “Dude, you won’t believe this!” I’m thinking, “What now?” Turns out, he just got a promotion. I’m happy for him, but also, like, why not me? I mean, I work my butt off analyzing numbers all day. But hey, congrats, Lars. You deserve it, I guess. Then, the meeting starts. My boss is droning on about quarterly reports. I’m zoning out, thinking about the amazing pizza place on Høleveien. I mean, who can resist a good slice, right? But then, BAM! My boss drops a bombshell. “We’re cutting budgets.” WHAT?! My heart sinks. I can’t even. I’m about to lose it. After the meeting, I storm out. I need air. I head to the park by Sandnes Sentrum. It’s beautiful there, with all the trees and flowers. I sit on a bench, trying to calm down. But then, I see this kid flying a kite. And I’m like, “Why can’t I be that carefree?” I mean, I’m over here stressing about spreadsheets, and this kid’s just living his best life. I pull out my phone to check the news. Big mistake. The stock market is crashing. Great. Just what I needed. I’m about to throw my phone into the fjord. But then, I remember the view from the fjord. It’s stunning! I can’t be mad at that. So, I decide to take a walk along the waterfront. The view of the fjord is breathtaking. I see the mountains in the distance, and I’m like, “Okay, maybe life isn’t so bad.” I snap a few pics for Instagram. Gotta keep the followers happy, right? Then, I bump into an old friend from high school. We start chatting, and it turns out he’s doing great. He’s got a family, a house, the whole shebang. Meanwhile, I’m still renting my shoebox. But hey, I’m happy for him. Sort of. As the day winds down, I head back home. I’m exhausted. I flop onto my couch, and all I can think about is that pizza. I order a large pepperoni from that place on Høleveien. Best decision ever. So, yeah, today was a wild ride. From tripping over cobblestones to budget cuts and unexpected reunions. Sandnes, you’ve got my heart, but you also know how to test my patience! Here’s to hoping tomorrow’s a bit more chill. Or at least, less dramatic!
