Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a bouncer in Steinkjer is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I roll into work at this bar on Storgata, right? It’s a chill spot, but today? Nah, not even close. First off, the weather was all over the place. One minute, it’s sunny, and the next, it’s pouring like the heavens opened up. I’m standing outside, lookin’ like a drowned rat, and this dude comes up to me, soaked to the bone. He’s like, “Hey man, can I get in?” I’m like, “Bro, you look like you just swam here!” But I let him in anyway. Gotta love the spirit, right? So, I’m inside, and the vibe is wild. People are dancing, drinks are flowing, and I’m just trying to keep the peace. Then, outta nowhere, this group of guys from the nearby town of Levanger rolls in. They’re loud, obnoxious, and think they own the place. I’m like, “Dude, chill. This ain’t your turf.” But they just laugh it off. Ugh, typical. Then, I spot this girl on the dance floor. She’s got moves, man! I mean, she’s busting out some serious stuff. I’m thinking, “Wow, she’s got more rhythm than a Norwegian folk dance!” But then, her boyfriend shows up, and he’s not happy. He’s all like, “Who’s that guy?” pointing at me. I’m just standing there, arms crossed, like, “Dude, I’m just here to keep the peace.” Next thing I know, they’re arguing, and I’m caught in the middle. I’m like, “Hey, hey, let’s not turn this into a scene.” But the guy’s not having it. He shoves me! Can you believe that? I’m just trying to do my job! So, I push back a little, not too hard, just enough to show him I’m not playing. Finally, I get them separated, and the girl’s crying. Man, that hit me. I hate seeing people upset. So, I’m like, “Hey, it’s all good. Just dance it out.” And she does! She starts dancing again, and it’s like the whole bar just forgets the drama. But then, the night takes another turn. I get a call from my buddy, who’s working security down at the train station. He’s like, “Yo, we got a situation.” Apparently, some guy tried to jump the turnstile. Classic! So, I’m like, “I’ll be there in a sec.” I rush down to the station, and it’s chaos. People are staring, and this guy is just standing there, looking all smug. I’m like, “Dude, you really thought you could just waltz in?” He starts talking back, and I’m like, “Listen, man, you’re not in Oslo. This is Steinkjer. We don’t play that game here.” After a bit of back and forth, I finally get him to leave. I’m feeling pretty good about it, like I just saved the day or something. But then, I head back to the bar, and guess what? The Levanger crew is back, and they’re even rowdier. I’m like, “Seriously, guys? Didn’t we just do this?” So, I kick ‘em out. They’re yelling, but I’m not having it. I’m like, “You wanna act like fools? Go do it somewhere else.” And they finally leave, but not without throwing a few choice words my way. Whatever, man. By the end of the night, I’m exhausted. I’m standing outside, taking a breather, and I see the girl from earlier. She comes up to me, all smiles now. “Thanks for helping me out,” she says. I’m like, “No problem. Just doing my job.” But inside, I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy. So, yeah, that was my day in Steinkjer. Full of ups and downs, but that’s what makes it worth it, right? I love this city, even with all its craziness. It’s home, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
