Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I woke up in Ashburton, right? The sun was shining, birds chirping, all that jazz. I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I had a meeting at the office on East Street. You know, the one with that dodgy coffee machine? Yeah, that one. I swear, it’s like a caffeine roulette. You either get a decent brew or a cup of regret. Guess which one I got? Yup, regret. I was half asleep, trying to keep my eyes open while my team was throwing around ideas like confetti. Then, outta nowhere, my phone buzzes. It’s my mate, Dave. He’s stuck on West Street. Apparently, there’s a sheep on the road. A SHEEP! Like, come on, Ashburton, get it together! I mean, we’re known for our farming, but this is ridiculous. I told him to just shoo it away. He’s like, “Nah, bro, it’s a stubborn one.” Classic Dave. So, I’m trying to focus on the meeting, but all I can think about is Dave wrestling with a sheep. I mean, who needs reality TV when you’ve got that? Anyway, after what felt like an eternity, we wrapped up. I bolted outta there, ready to rescue my mate. I raced down to West Street, and guess what? The sheep was gone! Just my luck. But Dave? He was there, looking like he’d just fought a battle. I couldn’t help but laugh. “You good, mate?” He just rolled his eyes. “Yeah, just a typical day in Ashburton.” Next, I decided to grab lunch at the local café on Tancred Street. You know, the one with the best pies? I was craving a steak and cheese. But when I got there, the line was out the door! I mean, c’mon, people! It’s just a pie! But I waited. Because, you know, priorities. Finally got my pie, and it was worth it. Flaky pastry, juicy filling—heaven! But then, as I was walking back to the car, I tripped over a curb. Like, seriously? I looked like a total klutz. Some old lady laughed at me. I just waved it off, but inside, I was like, “Ugh, why me?” After that, I had to head to a client meeting on Wills Street. I was running late, of course. Traffic was a nightmare. I mean, Ashburton isn’t exactly a bustling metropolis, but today? It felt like rush hour in Auckland. I was fuming. Finally made it, and the client was super chill. We talked about their project, and I was feeling good again. But then, they dropped a bombshell. They wanted to change the whole plan. I was like, “Are you kidding me?” I mean, we’d spent weeks on this! But I kept my cool. Gotta be professional, right? Inside, I was screaming. By the time I got back to the office, I was exhausted. But then, my team surprised me with a cake. They knew I was having a rough day. It was a chocolate cake, my fave! I felt all warm and fuzzy inside. I mean, who doesn’t love cake? As the day wrapped up, I took a stroll down the Ashburton River. The sunset was gorgeous, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. I thought about how crazy the day had been. From sheep wrestling to cake surprises, it was a rollercoaster. I got home, plopped on the couch, and just laughed. Ashburton, you never fail to surprise me. What a wild ride!
