Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I woke up in Bishopdale, right? You know, that chill suburb in Christchurch, NZ. It’s got that small-town vibe but with a twist. Anyway, I was all set for a normal day, but boy, was I in for a ride. First off, I hit up the Bishopdale Mall. Gotta love that place. It’s like the heart of the hood. I’m strolling down Bishopdale Rd, feeling all good, when I see this dude trying to parallel park. I mean, come on, bro! It’s not rocket science! He’s going back and forth like he’s trying to land a plane. I’m just standing there, shaking my head, thinking, “Dude, just give it up!” Then, I pop into the mall. I’m craving a coffee from the local café, you know, the one on the corner of Farrington Ave. I order my usual – flat white, extra hot. The barista, bless her, spills it all over the counter. I’m like, “Great, just what I needed!” But she’s super apologetic, and I can’t stay mad. I mean, who hasn’t had a rough day at work, right? So, I grab my coffee and head outside. The sun’s shining, and I’m feeling good. I decide to take a stroll down to the Bishopdale Park. It’s a nice spot, with those big trees and the playground. I see some kids running around, and it hits me – I miss being a kid. No worries, just fun. But then, I see this kid throw a tantrum. Like, full-on meltdown mode. I’m talking screaming, crying, the works. I can’t help but laugh. It’s like, “Dude, chill! You’ll get your ice cream!” After that, I’m walking along the riverbank, just vibing. The Avon River is so pretty here. I’m snapping pics, feeling like a tourist in my own town. But then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and tries to steal my sandwich! I’m like, “Nah, mate! Not today!” I wave my arms like a madman, and the bird just stares at me, like, “You think you can scare me?” I finally make it to the Bishopdale Library. I love that place. It’s quiet, cozy, and full of books. I’m browsing through the shelves when I bump into an old mate from school. We start chatting, and it’s like no time has passed. We’re laughing about the dumb stuff we did back in the day. You know, like that time we tried to sneak into the Bishopdale Bowling Club and ended up getting kicked out. Classic! But then, my phone buzzes. It’s my boss. Ugh, work stuff. He’s like, “Can you come in for a meeting?” I’m thinking, “Seriously? On a Saturday?” But I can’t say no. So, I head back to the office, which is on the other side of town. I’m driving down Harewood Rd, and the traffic is a nightmare. I’m stuck behind this slowpoke who’s going 40 in a 60 zone. I’m losing it! I’m yelling at my steering wheel like it’s the car’s fault. Finally, I get to the office, and it’s a total mess. Papers everywhere, and my team is looking frazzled. I’m like, “What happened here?” Turns out, they had a mini-crisis while I was out. I’m trying to keep my cool, but inside, I’m like, “Why can’t we just have one normal day?” After the meeting, I’m exhausted. I head home, and as I’m driving down Wairakei Rd, I see this beautiful sunset. It’s like the sky is on fire. I pull over just to take it in. It’s moments like this that remind me why I love Bishopdale. It’s got its quirks, its chaos, but it’s home. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, laughs and frustrations. But at the end of it all, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Bishopdale, you crazy little suburb, you’ve got my heart.
