Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m in Claudelands, NZ, right? Just a chill little suburb of Hamilton, but today? Today was anything but chill. First off, I wake up late. Classic me. Alarm didn’t go off. I’m like, “Great, just what I need.” I rush outta my Airbnb on River Rd, barely remember to grab my notes for the lecture. I mean, who needs sleep, right? I hop on my bike, zooming down the streets. Claudelands is kinda pretty, with all those trees lining the roads. I pass by the Claudelands Park, and I’m like, “Dude, I should’ve brought my picnic gear.” But no time for that. I gotta get to the uni. So, I’m pedaling like a madman, and then BAM! I hit a pothole. My bike goes sideways, and I’m almost eating pavement. I’m cursing like a sailor. “What’s up with these roads?” I mean, come on, Claudelands! Fix your streets! Finally, I make it to the lecture hall on the uni campus. I’m sweating bullets. I walk in, and the students are all staring at me. I’m like, “Hey, sorry I’m late! Traffic was a nightmare!” They totally buy it. Bless their hearts. The lecture goes surprisingly well. I’m talking about the impact of social media on education, and these kids are actually engaged. I mean, who knew? I even crack a joke about TikTok. They laugh! I’m feeling like a rockstar. But then, outta nowhere, the fire alarm goes off. Seriously? In the middle of my lecture? I’m like, “Great, just great.” We all pile out into the courtyard, and it’s chaos. Students are filming TikToks, and I’m just standing there, trying to keep my cool. After the fire drill (which was a false alarm, of course), I’m trying to get back to my lecture. But then I bump into this old dude named Barry. He’s a local legend, apparently. He starts telling me about the history of Claudelands, and I’m like, “Dude, I’m kinda busy.” But he’s so passionate, I can’t help but listen. He talks about the Claudelands Event Centre and how it’s the hub of the community. I’m thinking, “This guy should be teaching, not me!” Finally, I get back to my lecture, and we wrap up. I’m feeling pretty good, but then I realize I left my notes in the classroom. Ugh! I run back, and guess what? They’re gone! Someone swiped ‘em! I’m fuming. “Who steals lecture notes?” I’m thinking. After that, I decide to treat myself. I head over to the Claudelands Shopping Centre. I need food, like, now. I grab a burger from this little joint called “The Good George.” It’s amazing! I’m munching away, and life is good again. But then, I see this street performer outside. He’s playing the ukulele and singing some catchy tune. I’m vibing, and I toss him a couple of bucks. He winks at me, and I’m like, “Wow, Claudelands really knows how to lift spirits.” As the sun sets, I take a stroll through the park. It’s beautiful, with the trees all lit up. I sit on a bench, just soaking it all in. I think about how crazy today was. From almost crashing my bike to meeting Barry, it’s been a rollercoaster. I head back to my place, exhausted but happy. Claudelands, you’ve been a wild ride. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
