Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I wake up in Dunedin, right? The sun’s peeking through my window on George St, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be epic!” Spoiler alert: it was, but not in the way I thought. First off, I grab a flat white from my fave café, the Good Oil. Best coffee in town, no cap. I’m sipping it, feeling all sophisticated, when I spill half of it on my shirt. Classic me. I’m standing there, looking like a coffee monster, and I just laugh. Like, who needs a clean shirt anyway? So, I head down to the Octagon. It’s this cool little hub, ya know? Lots of people, street performers, and the vibe is just right. I’m strolling, minding my own biz, when I see this dude juggling flaming torches. I’m like, “Bro, you’re gonna set yourself on fire!” But he’s nailing it. I’m clapping, and suddenly, he throws a torch right at me! I duck like I’m in the Olympics. Heart racing, but I’m laughing. What a way to start the day, right? Then, I decide to hit up the Otago Museum. I’m all about that self-determination stuff, so I’m curious about how they inspire students. I walk in, and it’s like a treasure trove of knowledge. But, man, the exhibits are so cool, I lose track of time. I’m wandering around, and I get super into this Maori culture exhibit. It’s fascinating! But then, I realize I’ve been in there for like two hours. Oops. I rush out, and it’s pouring rain. Of course! Classic Dunedin weather. I’m soaked in seconds. I’m cursing the sky, like, “Really? You couldn’t wait five minutes?” But then I see this cute little shop on Stuart St. It’s got all these quirky knick-knacks. I can’t resist. I dash in, dripping everywhere, and the shopkeeper just laughs. I end up buying a tiny kiwi figurine. Totally worth it. After that, I’m starving. I hit up a food truck on Castle St. Best fish and chips ever! I’m chowing down, and this seagull swoops in and tries to steal my food. I’m like, “Dude, back off!” But it’s relentless. I’m fighting off this bird like it’s a scene from a movie. I finally scare it away, but not before losing half my chips. Ugh! Feeling a bit defeated, I decide to take a walk along the waterfront. The view is stunning. The harbor, the hills, everything’s just beautiful. I’m taking it all in when I spot a bunch of students from the uni. They’re all hyped up, talking about their plans for the weekend. I can’t help but smile. It’s moments like this that remind me why I love working with students. They’re so full of life and dreams. But then, I overhear one of them say they’re dropping out. My heart sinks. I can’t let that happen! I jump in, all passionate, and start talking about the importance of sticking it out. I’m like, “You’ve got this! Don’t let a rough patch get you down!” They look at me like I’m a madman, but I don’t care. I just want to help. As the sun starts to set, I’m feeling all sorts of emotions. Happy, frustrated, inspired. Dunedin’s got this weird way of making you feel everything at once. I head back to my place, exhausted but fulfilled. I plop down on my couch, and I can’t help but laugh at the chaos of the day. So yeah, that was my day in Dunedin. Full of spills, thrills, and a bit of drama. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Here’s to more crazy days ahead!
