Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a shepherd in Epuni ain’t just about sheep and grass. Nah, today was a wild ride. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s barely up, and I’m already thinkin’ about my flock. But first, coffee. Gotta have that liquid gold. I hit up the local café on the corner of Wainuiomata Rd. Best flat whites in town, no cap. So, I’m sippin’ my coffee, and I see this dude, right? He’s tryin’ to parallel park his car on the side of the road. I mean, come on, mate! It’s not rocket science! He’s goin’ back and forth, back and forth. I’m just sittin’ there, laughin’ my head off. Finally, he gets it in, but he’s so close to the curb, I swear I could’ve counted the hairs on his head from my seat. After that, I head to the paddock. The sheep are chillin’, munchin’ on grass like they own the place. I’m thinkin’, “Man, I wish I could just eat all day.” But then, outta nowhere, this big ol’ dog comes runnin’ through the gate. I’m like, “What the heck?!” Turns out, it’s my mate’s dog, Max. He’s a big fluffball, but he’s got energy for days. Max starts chasin’ the sheep, and I’m like, “No, no, no! Not today!” I’m runnin’ after him, tryin’ to wrangle him back. It’s chaos, I’m tellin’ ya. Sheep scatterin’, me yellin’, and Max just havin’ the time of his life. I finally catch him, and I’m outta breath. I’m like, “Dude, you can’t just go wild like that!” After the sheep drama, I decide to take a break. I stroll down to the Epuni shops on the main drag. It’s a small place, but it’s got character. I pop into the dairy for some snacks. Grabbed a pie—best decision ever. I sit outside, munchin’ away, and watchin’ the world go by. Then, I see this old lady, bless her heart, tryin’ to cross the street at the lights on Epuni St. She’s takin’ her sweet time, and I’m thinkin’, “C’mon, lady, the light’s gonna change!” But she’s just strollin’ like she’s got all day. I can’t help but chuckle. But then, bam! A car zooms past, and I’m like, “Whoa, dude! Chill!” The driver’s got no patience. I’m shoutin’ at him, “It’s not a racetrack, mate!” The old lady gives me a look like I’m the crazy one. I just shrug. After that, I head back to the paddock. The sheep are still munchin’, but now they’re lookin’ at me like, “Where ya been?” I swear they have attitudes. I’m like, “Sorry, guys, had a day in the city.” As the sun starts settlin’, I’m feelin’ all sorts of emotions. Happy, angry, surprised—like a rollercoaster. I sit on a fence, watchin’ the sunset over the hills. It’s beautiful, man. Makes all the chaos worth it. But then, I hear a noise. I look over, and it’s Max again! He’s back, and this time he’s brought a whole pack of dogs. I’m like, “Oh no, not again!” They start runnin’ towards the sheep, and I’m off the fence like a shot. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. I’ve chased dogs, wrangled sheep, and dealt with city craziness. But you know what? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Epuni’s got its quirks, but it’s home. And tomorrow? Who knows what’ll happen next!
