Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an abrasive blaster in Forrest Hill is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I grab my gear. You know, the usual: helmet, gloves, and my trusty blaster. I live on Wairau Rd, so I hop on my bike and cruise down to the job site. The streets are packed, as usual. I mean, who knew a small suburb could have so much traffic? I swear, I saw a guy on a skateboard trying to dodge a bus on Forrest Hill Rd. Crazy! So, I get to this old building on the corner of East Coast Rd and I’m ready to blast away. But then, bam! My compressor decides it’s had enough. Just stops. Like, really? I’m standing there, looking at it like it’s gonna magically fix itself. I’m fuming! I mean, I’ve got a deadline, people! While I’m waiting for the repair guy, I decide to take a stroll. I hit up the local café on the corner of Glenfield Rd. Best flat white in town, no joke. I grab one and sit outside, soaking in the vibe. Kids are playing, dogs are barking, and I’m just trying to chill. But then, this kid spills his drink all over my boots. Ugh! I’m like, “Dude, really?” But he just laughs and runs off. Kids, man. Finally, the repair dude shows up. He’s got this wild hair and a grin like he just won the lottery. He fixes my compressor in like 10 minutes. I’m back in business! I’m blasting away, and it feels good. The dust is flying, and I’m in my zone. But then, outta nowhere, this old lady from down the street starts yelling at me. “You’re ruining my garden!” she screams. I’m like, “Lady, I’m not even near your garden!” But she’s relentless. I just smile and wave. After that, I decide to take a break. I head over to the local park, the one by the library on the corner of Rame Rd. It’s a nice spot, man. I sit on a bench, munching on a pie from the bakery. Life’s good, right? But then, I see this guy trying to impress a girl. He’s doing all these tricks on his bike, and he totally wipes out. I can’t help but laugh. Like, dude, you’re not in a movie! As the day goes on, I finish the job. I’m covered in dust, but I feel accomplished. I ride back home, taking the scenic route through the neighborhood. The sunset over the hills is stunning. I stop at the lookout on the way, just to take it all in. Forrest Hill is beautiful, man. But then, I get home, and my flatmate’s left the dishes piled high. Seriously? I’m exhausted, and I gotta deal with this? I just shake my head. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, laughter and frustration. But hey, that’s life in Forrest Hill, right? You never know what’s gonna happen next!
