Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I woke up in Mangere-East, right? The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local dairy on Massey Rd. You know, the one with the best pies? Yeah, that one. I grabbed a mean steak and cheese. I was ready to conquer the world. But then, bam! My phone buzzes. It’s my mate, Jake. He’s like, “Bro, you gotta help me move!” Ugh, moving? Really? But I’m a good mate, so I said, “Fine, I’ll be there in 20.” I hop on my bike, cruising down Bader Drive. The wind in my hair, feeling like a rockstar. But then, outta nowhere, this dog runs across the street! I swear, I almost ate pavement. I’m like, “Chill, doggo!” But it just stares at me like I’m the problem. I mean, come on! Finally, I get to Jake’s place on McKenzie Rd. He’s got boxes everywhere. I’m talking chaos. I’m like, “Dude, you said just a few boxes!” He laughs and says, “Surprise!” I’m not laughing. I’m sweating. We start hauling stuff, and I’m already regretting my life choices. Then, out of the blue, his neighbor, Mrs. Thompson, pops her head over the fence. She’s this sweet old lady, but she’s got a knack for gossip. She starts telling us about the time she saw a UFO over Mangere-East. I’m like, “Right, sure, Mrs. T.” But she’s dead serious! I can’t help but chuckle. After what felt like a million years, we finally finish. I’m exhausted, but then Jake pulls out a couple of cold ones. “Cheers, mate!” I’m like, “You know what? I earned this.” We sit on his porch, sipping beers, and I’m feeling good again. But then, the sky turns dark. Like, really dark. I’m thinking, “No way, not now!” And then, boom! It starts pouring. We scramble inside, laughing like idiots. I mean, who moves in the rain, right? Later, I decide to head home. I’m biking back down Massey Rd, and it’s still drizzling. I’m soaked, but I don’t care. I’m thinking about how Mangere-East is kinda magical, even in the rain. The streets are glistening, and the smell of wet earth is kinda nice. I get home, and I’m just about to crash when I remember I left my phone at Jake’s. Ugh! So, I grab my jacket and head back out. This time, I’m dodging puddles like a ninja. I finally get to Jake’s, and he’s like, “Dude, you’re back?” I’m like, “Yeah, forgot my phone.” He hands it over, and I’m about to leave when Mrs. Thompson pops up again. “Did you see the UFO?” I roll my eyes but can’t help but smile. “Yeah, sure, Mrs. T.” Finally, I bike home again, and I’m thinking about how wild today was. From almost crashing into a dog to moving boxes and UFOs, Mangere-East never disappoints. I flop onto my bed, exhausted but happy. What a day, man. What a day!
