Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in Masterton, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I grab my coffee from that little café on Queen Street. You know the one? The one with the weirdly awesome scones? Yeah, that place. I’m standing there, waiting for my flat white, and this dude in front of me orders, like, a 10-step coffee. I’m just trying to get my caffeine fix, man! I’m like, “Bro, it’s just coffee, not a science experiment.” Anyway, I finally get my drink and head out. I’m walking down to the park, you know, the one by the river? The Waipoua River? It’s so pretty there, but today? Ugh. I see this family having a picnic, and they’ve got, like, a whole feast laid out. I’m talking burgers, chips, the works. And here I am, just me and my sad little coffee. I’m like, “Great, now I’m hungry AND jealous.” So, I sit on a bench, trying to enjoy the view. But then, outta nowhere, this kid runs past me, chasing a dog. The dog’s got a stick, and it’s all cute and stuff. But then the kid trips, and I swear, it’s like slow-mo. He goes down, and I’m like, “Oh no!” But he just laughs it off. Kids are tough, man. I’m over here worried about my coffee getting cold. After that, I head over to the Masterton Art Gallery. I’m thinking, “Let’s get some culture in my life.” But, like, half the exhibits are closed for renovations. I’m standing there, staring at a blank wall, and I’m like, “This is art? A wall?” I mean, come on! I could’ve done that in my sleep. Then, I get a call from a client. They’re having a meltdown. I’m trying to be all professional, but inside I’m like, “Dude, I just wanna look at some art!” But I listen, and it’s all good. I help them out, and I’m feeling like a hero for a sec. But then I step outside, and it’s raining. Like, seriously? I just can’t catch a break today. So, I’m walking back to my car, dodging puddles on Church Street. I’m soaked, and I’m thinking, “This is just great.” I finally get to my car, and guess what? I locked my keys inside. Classic move, right? I’m standing there, staring at my car like it’s betrayed me. I call a locksmith, and while I’m waiting, I decide to grab some food. I hit up that burger joint on Lincoln Road. Best burgers in town, no joke. I order a massive burger, and while I’m waiting, I see this guy trying to parallel park. He’s all over the place, and I’m just sitting there, munching on my fries, laughing. Like, dude, it’s not that hard! Finally, the locksmith shows up, and I’m like, “Thank you, sweet baby Jesus.” He gets my keys out, and I’m back in business. I drive home, and I’m just thinking about how wild today was. Masterton, man. It’s got its quirks. One minute you’re sipping coffee, the next you’re locked out of your car in the rain. But hey, that’s life, right? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Well, maybe a dry day. But still! What a ride!
