Man, what a day! I swear, being a ratcatcher in Naenae is like being in a freakin’ action movie. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s barely up, and I’m already thinking about the rats. Ugh, those little furballs. Anyway, I grab my gear—trap, bait, gloves, the whole shebang—and head out. First stop, Wainuiomata Road. I’m cruisin’ down, and I see this massive rat scurry across the street. I’m like, “Whoa, buddy! Not today!” I jump outta the van, but the lil’ bugger’s quick. I mean, I’m no Olympic sprinter, but c’mon! I’m chasing this rat like it owes me money. Then, I get to the Naenae shops. You know, the ones on the corner of Treadwell and Wainuiomata? Yeah, that place. I’m just about to set a trap when I hear this loud crash. Turns out, some dude’s trying to parallel park his car. Classic Naenae, right? I can’t help but laugh. Like, bro, it’s not that hard! So, I’m setting up my traps, and I notice this old lady, Mrs. Thompson, struggling with her groceries. She’s a legend, always got stories about the good ol’ days. I help her out, and she’s like, “You’re a good lad, you know that?” Makes my day, honestly. But then, I get a call. “Oi, mate! We got a situation on Hine Road!” I’m like, “What now?” Apparently, there’s a rat infestation in this old warehouse. I zoom over, and it’s chaos. Rats everywhere! I’m talkin’ like a horror movie. I’m dodging them left and right. I set up traps, but these rats are smart. I swear, they’re plotting against me. I’m sweating bullets, and just when I think I’ve got it under control, I slip on some old pizza. Yeah, pizza! Who leaves pizza in a warehouse? I’m on the ground, covered in grease, and I can’t stop laughing. Finally, I catch a break. I trap a big one—like, the size of a small cat. I’m feeling like a champ. But then, I hear this noise. It’s a bunch of kids from Naenae College, laughing and filming me. Great, now I’m a meme. “Ratcatcher slips on pizza.” Just what I needed. After that, I head over to the Naenae Community Hall. They’re having a market day. I’m thinking, “Perfect, I can grab a bite.” I get a mean sausage sizzle, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. But then, I see a rat darting around the stalls. Seriously? At a market? I’m back in action, chasing this rat through the crowd. People are cheering me on like I’m some kinda hero. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. I’ve caught a bunch of rats, made some new friends, and even got a free sausage. Not too shabby for a ratcatcher, eh? I drive home, thinking about how wild Naenae is. It’s got its quirks, but it’s home. So yeah, that was my day. Full of rats, laughs, and a bit of chaos. Just another day in Naenae, I guess!
