Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I woke up in New Lynn, right? The sun was shining, birds chirping, all that jazz. I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local café on Great North Rd. You know, the one with the best flat whites? Yeah, that one. I ordered my usual, and the barista, bless her heart, totally messed it up. I mean, how do you mess up a flat white? It was like drinking liquid sadness. I was like, “C’mon, mate! I need caffeine, not a heartbreak!” Then, I decided to stroll down to the New Lynn mall. It’s a decent spot, but man, it was packed. Like, where did all these people come from? I swear, I almost got lost in the crowd. I was dodging prams and old ladies like I was in some sort of obstacle course. And then, BAM! I bumped into this dude. Total stranger. He spills his drink all over me. I was like, “Bro, are you serious?” I mean, I was wearing my favorite shirt! It was a whole thing. He apologized, but I was still fuming. I mean, who even drinks that much coffee at once? After that, I needed a breather. So, I headed to the New Lynn train station. I thought, “Let’s just chill for a sec.” But of course, the train was late. Classic. I sat there, scrolling through my phone, trying to ignore the fact that I was now a walking coffee stain. While I was waiting, I saw this busker. He was playing some sick tunes. I mean, I was vibing hard. I even tossed him a couple of coins. It was like a mini concert right there on the platform. Made me forget about the coffee disaster for a hot minute. Finally, the train rolled in. I hopped on, and guess what? It was packed. Like, sardines in a can packed. I squeezed in next to this guy who smelled like he’d just run a marathon. I was like, “Dude, personal space?” But whatever, I just wanted to get home. On the way, I passed by the New Lynn shops. They’ve got some cool stuff, but I was too tired to care. I just wanted to crash. But then, I saw this cute little dog outside a pet store. I mean, it was adorable! I had to stop. I was like, “Aww, look at you!” Totally forgot about my day for a sec. But then, I remembered my shirt. Ugh. I was back to being annoyed. I mean, why can’t people just be careful? Finally, I got home. I flopped on my couch, still grumpy. But then, I thought about the busker. And the dog. And how, despite the chaos, New Lynn has its moments. It’s a wild ride, but it’s my wild ride. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, coffee spills, and a cute dog. New Lynn, you crazy, but I love ya.
