Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from it. So, I wake up in my flat on Lake Rd, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I decide to hit up Takapuna Beach. You know, just to soak in some rays and maybe grab a coffee from one of those cute little cafes. I’m strolling down Hurstmere Rd, feeling all good vibes, when BAM! I step in a puddle. Not just any puddle, but the biggest, muddiest one ever. My shoes are ruined. Like, thanks, North Shore weather. Anyway, I finally get to the beach, and it’s packed. Families everywhere, kids screaming, and I’m just trying to find a spot to chill. I plop down on the sand, and guess what? A seagull swoops down and steals my sandwich. I mean, c’mon! I didn’t even get a chance to enjoy it. I’m like, “Hey, that’s my lunch, you feathered thief!” But the bird just looks at me like, “What you gonna do about it?” So, I’m fuming, right? But then I see this group of people playing beach volleyball. They’re having a blast, and I’m like, “Why not?” I join in, and it’s a total riot. I’m diving for the ball, making a fool of myself, but who cares? I’m laughing, and it feels good. After the game, I’m all sweaty and happy. I decide to head over to Devonport. I hop on the ferry, and the view of the skyline is just stunning. I mean, North Shore is beautiful, right? The water, the hills, the whole vibe. I’m snapping pics like a tourist. But then, as I’m wandering around, I get lost. Like, how do you get lost in Devonport? I end up on King Edward Parade, and I’m just wandering, looking for a way back. I’m starting to panic a bit. My phone’s dying, and I’m like, “Great, I’m gonna be that person who gets lost in their own city.” Finally, I find a café, and I’m like, “Help me, please!” The barista is super chill and points me in the right direction. I grab a flat white (because, duh, it’s NZ), and I’m feeling a bit better. But then, as I’m leaving, I see this guy drop his ice cream. I mean, it’s a total tragedy. He’s just standing there, staring at it like it’s the end of the world. I can’t help but laugh. I’m like, “Dude, it’s just ice cream!” But he looks at me like I just kicked his puppy. So, I head back to Takapuna, and I’m thinking, “What a rollercoaster.” I’m finally ready to chill when I bump into an old mate from school. We start chatting, and it’s all good until he mentions that he’s moving to Australia. I’m like, “No way! You can’t leave me here!” But he’s all excited about it, and I’m just standing there, feeling a bit bummed. As the sun sets, I’m walking back home, reflecting on the day. It was wild, emotional, and totally unexpected. North Shore, you’ve got my heart. Even with the puddles, the seagulls, and the lost ice cream. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy adventure in the beautiful chaos of North Shore. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
