Wow, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I woke up in my little flat on Wellesley St, right? The sun was shining, birds chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I had a client at the Onekawa Community Hall. I’m all dressed up in my kimono, feeling cute, and then I realize I forgot my fan. Ugh! Like, how do you even do that? So, I sprint back home, dodging kids on bikes and old folks walking their dogs. Onekawa’s got this vibe, ya know? It’s all about the community, but sometimes it feels like a race track. Finally, I grab my fan and head back. The hall is buzzing. I walk in, and boom! There’s this dude, totally not what I expected. He’s like, 6’5”, wearing a Hawaiian shirt. I mean, c’mon! I’m here to do my thing, not to be a part of a beach party. But whatever, I roll with it. We start chatting, and he’s actually super cool. Turns out he’s from Auckland, visiting for the weekend. We talk about the best fish and chips in Onekawa. I’m like, “You gotta hit up the place on the corner of Wellesley and Victoria.” Best chips ever! Then, outta nowhere, the fire alarm goes off. Like, seriously? In the middle of my session? Everyone’s freaking out, and I’m just standing there, fanning myself with my fan, trying to keep it together. I mean, I’m a geisha, not a firefighter! So, we all spill out onto the street. It’s chaos! I see my friend Mei from down the block. She’s got this look on her face like she just saw a ghost. Turns out, she was in the middle of a tea ceremony when the alarm went off. Classic Onekawa, right? Always something unexpected. After the fire drama, we finally get back inside. My client is still chill, and we finish up. I’m feeling good, like, “Yeah, I nailed it!” But then, I step outside, and it’s pouring rain. Like, what even? One minute, sunshine; next, I’m drenched. I dash down Wellesley St, trying to find shelter. I duck into this cute café, and guess who’s there? The Hawaiian shirt guy! We end up chatting over coffee, and he’s actually really funny. I’m laughing so hard, I almost spill my drink. But then, I get a text from my sister. She’s in town and wants to meet up. I’m like, “Great, just what I need!” So, I tell Hawaiian dude I gotta bounce. He’s like, “Let’s do this again!” and I’m thinking, “Yeah, maybe when it’s not raining cats and dogs.” I meet my sister at the park by the Onekawa River. It’s beautiful, but the rain’s still coming down. We’re huddled under a tree, and she’s telling me about her latest drama. I’m trying to be supportive, but honestly, I’m just thinking about how soggy my kimono is. After a while, the rain lets up, and we decide to stroll along the river. The view is stunning, and I’m feeling all the feels. Onekawa is so pretty, especially after a rain. The colors pop, and the air smells fresh. But then, outta nowhere, I trip on a rock. Like, seriously? I go down hard, and my sister’s laughing so hard, I think she might choke. I’m lying there, soaked and embarrassed, but I can’t help but laugh too. By the time we head home, I’m exhausted. It’s been a rollercoaster of a day. I flop onto my bed, thinking about how crazy life is. One minute you’re fanning yourself in a community hall, and the next, you’re soaked and laughing with your sister. So yeah, Onekawa, you’ve got my heart. Even on the wildest days, you keep me coming back for more. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
