Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I wake up in Orewa, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m heading down Moana Street, and I’m already late for my first gig. Classic me. I’m a Russian Sign Language translator, and I’m supposed to meet this family at the Orewa Beach. They’re all excited, and I’m like, “Great, let’s do this!” But then, boom! My phone dies. Just like that. No warning, no nothing. I’m standing there like a total loser, trying to remember where the heck I’m going. So, I’m sprinting down the beach, dodging kids and dogs. Seriously, why are there so many dogs? I love dogs, but come on! I finally find the family, and they’re super nice. But then, they start talking about their trip to Russia. I’m like, “Dude, I’m here to translate, not give a history lesson!” But whatever, I roll with it. Then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and steals my sandwich! I’m just standing there, mouth agape, like, “Did that just happen?” I mean, I know Orewa’s got some bold wildlife, but this was next level. I’m pretty sure that bird was plotting against me. After that, I’m feeling a bit better, right? I mean, I’m at the beach, the waves are crashing, and it’s all good vibes. But then, I get a call from my boss. He’s like, “Hey, can you cover another gig?” I’m like, “Dude, I’m in Orewa, not a superhero!” But of course, I say yes. So, I’m racing up the main street, trying to find this new place. I pass by the Orewa Surf Life Saving Club, and I’m thinking, “Man, those lifeguards have it made.” I mean, who wouldn’t want to chill on the beach all day? But then I remember, they gotta save lives. So, respect to them. Finally, I get to this café on Florence Avenue. It’s cute, but packed. I’m sweating like a pig, and I’m just trying to find the family I’m supposed to meet. I spot them, and they’re like, “We thought you ditched us!” I’m like, “Nah, just battling seagulls and my phone!” We sit down, and I start translating. They’re telling me about their experiences, and I’m trying to keep up. It’s intense, but I’m loving it. Then, outta nowhere, the café runs out of coffee! I mean, what kind of place runs out of coffee? I’m about to lose it. But then, the barista brings out this amazing chocolate cake. I’m like, “Okay, I can deal with this.” So, we share the cake, and it’s like a little slice of heaven. I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. After that, I’m walking back to my car, and I see this amazing sunset over the beach. I stop, take a breath, and just soak it all in. Orewa is beautiful, man. I mean, yeah, it’s been a crazy day, but moments like this make it all worth it. So, I finally get home, exhausted but happy. I flop onto my couch, and I’m like, “What a wild ride.” I can’t wait to tell my friends about the seagull and the coffee crisis. Orewa, you’ve been a trip!
