Man, what a day! Seriously, Point-Chevalier, you’ve got me all kinds of twisted. Woke up this mornin’ feelin’ like a million bucks, but that didn’t last long. I mean, who knew a chill day in the ‘Chev could turn into a rollercoaster? So, I’m cruisin’ down Great North Rd, right? Just me and my sketchbook, ready to capture the vibes. The sun’s out, birds are chirpin’, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be epic!” But then, bam! I trip over some random dog leash. Like, c’mon, dude! Who leaves their dog’s leash just chillin’ on the sidewalk? I’m all sprawled out, lookin’ like a hot mess. Anyway, I shake it off and head to the beach. Point Chev Beach, man! It’s got that chill vibe. Kids laughin’, people joggin’, and I’m just sittin’ there, sketchin’ the waves. But then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my sandwich! Like, really? I’m just tryin’ to enjoy my lunch, and you gotta be a thief? I’m yellin’ at the bird like it can hear me. “Hey! That’s my lunch, ya punk!” After that, I needed a pick-me-up. So, I hit up the local café on Point Chevalier Rd. Best flat white ever! I’m sittin’ there, sippin’ my coffee, and this dude next to me starts talkin’ about the weather. Like, bro, it’s sunny! Who cares? But then he mentions the old schoolhouses on the corner of Huia Rd. I’m like, “Wait, what? Those are dope!” So, I decide to check ‘em out. I wander over, and man, they’re so cool! Old brick, kinda crumbling, but full of character. I’m takin’ pics, feelin’ inspired, when I spot this mural. It’s a massive piece of art, all bright colors and wild shapes. I’m thinkin’, “I could totally do somethin’ like that!” But then, I notice some kids spray-painting nearby. I’m like, “Uh-oh, trouble!” But nah, they’re just havin’ fun, makin’ their own art. I can’t help but smile. Kids are so fearless, ya know? I wish I could be like that again. So, I join ‘em, and we start throwin’ paint around. It’s messy, it’s chaotic, and I’m lovin’ every second. Then, outta nowhere, this old lady walks by. She’s got this fierce look, and I’m thinkin’, “Oh man, we’re gonna get busted!” But she just stops, looks at our mess, and says, “You kids are makin’ magic!” I’m like, “Wait, what?!” She’s all about it! Turns out, she used to be an artist too. We end up talkin’ for ages about art, life, and how Point Chevalier has changed. But then, the day takes a turn. I’m walkin’ back, feelin’ all inspired, when I see this guy on the corner of Point Chevalier Rd and Meola Rd. He’s shoutin’ about some political stuff, and I’m like, “Dude, chill!” But then he starts talkin’ about the community, how we gotta stick together. And I’m like, “Okay, I feel that.” But then, I get mad again. Why’s it always the same people shoutin’? Where’s the love for the artists, the dreamers? I’m just tryin’ to make my mark, ya know? Finally, I head home, exhausted but pumped. I sit down with my sketchbook, and I can’t stop drawin’. Point Chevalier, you’ve got my heart. You’re wild, you’re messy, and you’re full of surprises. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
