Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m an agronomist, right? Spent the morning in the field, but then I had to head into Saint Johns. Ugh, the traffic on St. Johns Rd was a nightmare! Like, who even thought it was a good idea to have roadworks on a Friday? Anyway, I finally made it to the city center. The vibe was buzzing, but I was already cranky. I mean, I just wanted a coffee, ya know? So I hit up this little café on Felton Mathew Ave. The barista was super chill, but the line was longer than my to-do list. I swear, I could’ve grown a whole crop in the time I waited. Finally got my flat white, and it was like liquid gold. I took a sip, and boom! Happiness overload. But then, I stepped outside, and it started pouring. Like, seriously? I just got my coffee! I ducked under the awning of some random shop on St. Johns Rd, trying to avoid the rain. While I was waiting, I saw this dude trying to fix his bike. He was struggling hard, and I couldn’t help but laugh. I mean, come on, it’s a bike, not rocket science! But then, he looked up and gave me this death stare. I was like, “Chill, mate! I’m not judging!” After the rain let up, I decided to stroll down to the local market on the corner of St. Johns and Merton Rd. Man, that place is a treasure trove! Fresh veggies, local honey, and the best cheese you can imagine. I grabbed some kumara and a block of blue cheese. Yum! But then, outta nowhere, I bumped into my old mate, Dave. We hadn’t seen each other in ages. He’s always been a bit of a character. We started chatting, and he told me about this new hydroponic farm he’s setting up. I was like, “Dude, that’s awesome!” But then he mentioned he was using some weird algae. I was like, “Algae? Really? You sure that’s safe?” We laughed it off, but I was still a bit skeptical. I mean, I’m all for innovation, but algae? C’mon! Then, just when I thought the day couldn’t get any weirder, I got a call from my boss. Apparently, there was a mix-up with the soil samples I sent in. They were supposed to be tested for pH levels, but they ended up testing for something else entirely. I was fuming! Like, how does that even happen? I stormed back to my car, ready to vent. But then, I saw this cute dog on the street. It was a golden retriever, just wagging its tail like it owned the place. I couldn’t help but smile. Dogs have this magical power, right? So, I took a deep breath, calmed down, and decided to head home. I drove down St. Johns Rd, and the sunset was just stunning. The sky was all pink and orange, and I thought, “Okay, maybe today wasn’t a total disaster.” Got home, kicked off my shoes, and plopped on the couch. I was exhausted but happy. Saint Johns, you crazy little place, you always keep me on my toes!
