Man, what a day! I swear, being a Cargo Transportation Manager in Shirley, NZ, is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit the road on Main South Road. Traffic was a nightmare. I mean, c’mon, it’s Shirley, not Auckland! But nope, there I am, stuck behind some dude in a rusty old truck. I’m like, “Bro, you got a cargo of snails or what?” Finally, I get to the depot on Wainoni Road, and I’m already late for my first delivery. So, I’m loading up this massive shipment of kiwifruit. Yeah, kiwifruit! Only in NZ, right? But then, outta nowhere, my forklift decides it’s had enough. It just stops. Like, really? I’m sweating bullets, thinking I’m gonna lose my job over a dumb machine. I’m yelling at it like it’s gonna listen. “C’mon, you piece of junk! We got fruit to move!” After a solid 20 minutes of wrestling with that thing, I finally get it going. I zoom down to the delivery point on Marshland Road. I’m feeling like a champ, right? But then, I get there, and the client’s like, “Uh, we ordered 200 boxes, not 20.” My heart drops. I’m like, “What do you mean?!” Turns out, I mixed up the orders. Classic me. Now I’m racing back to the depot, dodging potholes like I’m in a video game. I swear, Shirley’s roads are like a minefield. I’m bouncing around in my truck, and I’m just praying I don’t spill any of that precious kiwifruit. I mean, who wants to be the guy who wrecked a whole shipment of kiwifruit? Not me! Finally, I get back, and I’m just about to load up the right order when my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy, Dave. He’s like, “Dude, you gotta check out the new café on Fitzgerald Ave. They’ve got the best flat whites!” I’m like, “Yeah, after I don’t get fired, maybe.” But honestly, I’m tempted. Flat whites are life. So, I finish the delivery, and I’m feeling a bit better. I swing by that café after work. It’s called “Shirley Brew,” and let me tell ya, it’s a vibe. I grab my flat white, and it’s like a hug in a cup. I sit outside, watching the world go by. Kids are playing, people are walking their dogs, and I’m just soaking it all in. But then, I see this guy trying to parallel park on the corner of North Parade. He’s struggling hard. I mean, come on, it’s not rocket science! I’m sipping my coffee, and I can’t help but laugh. He finally gets it, but he’s so proud, you’d think he just landed a spaceship. As the sun sets, I’m driving home, and I can’t help but think about the day. It was a mess, but it was MY mess. Shirley’s got its quirks, but it’s home. I love the chaos, the people, the little moments that make you laugh. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but hey, that’s life in Shirley, NZ. Can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow!
