Man, what a day! Seriously, Stoke, NZ, you’ve got me all kinds of twisted. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local café on Victoria St. You know, the one with the best flat whites? Yeah, that one. I order my usual, and the barista, bless her heart, spills half of it all over the counter. I’m like, “Great, just what I needed.” But she’s super apologetic, gives me a free muffin. Sweet, right? But I’m still half awake, so I just nod and mumble, “Thanks.” Then I decide to stroll down to the lake. Lake Rotorua is just a hop, skip, and a jump away. I’m walking along the path, feeling all zen, when BAM! A seagull swoops down and tries to steal my muffin! Like, dude, chill! It’s not even that good! I’m flailing my arms, yelling, “Get away, you feathered thief!” People are staring. Whatever, I’m not ashamed. So, I finally make it to the lake. It’s beautiful, right? But then I see this group of tourists trying to take selfies. They’re blocking the whole path! I’m like, “C’mon, people! It’s not that serious!” I mean, I get it, but there’s a time and place. I just wanna enjoy the view, ya know? After that, I head over to the Stoke Market on the corner of Pukehangi Rd. It’s buzzing! Fresh produce, crafts, the whole shebang. I’m browsing through some handmade jewelry when I overhear this guy talking about the best fish and chips in town. I’m intrigued. I mean, who doesn’t love fish and chips? So, I ask him where. He points to this little joint on Fenton St. I’m sold! I grab my food, and it’s glorious! Crispy, golden, and just the right amount of salt. I’m in heaven. But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring rain. Like, seriously? I’m standing there, drenched, trying to eat my chips under a tiny awning. I’m laughing at the absurdity of it all. “Only in Stoke,” I think. So, I decide to duck into a nearby shop on Hinemoa St. It’s a quirky little place, full of knick-knacks and random stuff. I’m browsing, and I find this ridiculous T-shirt that says, “I survived Stoke’s weather.” I HAVE to get it. It’s perfect! Finally, I head home, soaked but happy. I plop down on my couch, and I’m just thinking about the day. It was wild, emotional, and totally unexpected. Stoke, you’ve got character, that’s for sure. I mean, who else can say they fought a seagull, dodged rain, and found the best fish and chips all in one day? So, yeah, Stoke, you’re a trip. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
