Man, what a day! I woke up in Thames, NZ, and thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local café on Pollen St. You know, the one with the best flat whites? Yeah, that one. I ordered my usual, and the barista, bless her heart, totally messed it up. I mean, how do you mess up a flat white? It’s like, come on! I was ready to throw a fit, but then she smiled. Ugh, fine, I’ll let it slide. So, I’m walking down the main drag, and I see this sign for a market on Mary St. I’m like, “Sweet, let’s check it out!” I get there, and it’s packed. I mean, like, sardines in a can packed. But the vibe was cool. Lots of locals, good energy. I’m browsing through some stalls, and I spot this dude selling handmade jewelry. I’m not usually into that stuff, but he had this sick necklace that just screamed “buy me.” So, I did. Then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. Like, seriously? I’m standing there, drenched, and I’m like, “Great, just great.” I duck into this little shop on the corner of Queen St. It’s a thrift store, and I’m rummaging through the racks. I find this old jacket that’s kinda funky. I try it on, and it’s like it was made for me. I’m feeling myself, ya know? But then, I step outside, and the rain’s stopped. I’m thinking, “Perfect timing!” But wait, there’s more. I’m walking down the street, and I see this massive crowd gathered. Turns out, there’s a street performance happening. Some guy’s juggling flaming torches. I’m like, “Dude, you’re gonna set yourself on fire!” But he’s nailing it. The crowd’s loving it, and I’m just standing there, mouth agape. After the show, I’m feeling all hyped up. I decide to grab some fish and chips from the local joint on the waterfront. Best decision ever. I sit by the river, munching away, and just soaking in the Thames vibe. The sun’s peeking out, and it’s actually kinda beautiful. But then, I get a text from my mate. He’s stuck in traffic on the way to Thames. I’m like, “Bro, it’s a small town! How are you stuck?” Turns out, there’s a parade happening. A freakin’ parade! I didn’t even know. So, I rush over to the main street, and it’s a full-on party. People are dancing, music’s blasting, and I’m just swept up in the chaos. I’m laughing, I’m dancing, and then I see this old lady with a sign that says “Free Hugs.” I’m like, “Why not?” So, I go in for a hug, and it’s the best hug ever. Like, she’s got this grandma energy that just makes everything better. But then, the day takes a turn. I’m walking back to my car, and I see this guy yelling at another dude. I’m thinking, “Oh great, here we go.” Turns out, it’s a misunderstanding, but tempers are flaring. I’m standing there, heart racing, thinking, “Do I need to step in?” But then, the guy who was yelling just walks away. Phew! Finally, I get back to my car, and I’m exhausted. I’m thinking, “What a rollercoaster.” Thames, you’ve got my heart racing. I can’t believe all this happened in one day. I’m ready to crash, but I can’t stop smiling. What a wild ride!
