Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from all the craziness in Hrubieszów. Like, where do I even start? So, I woke up thinking it’d be just another chill day. You know, grab a coffee at that little spot on ul. 3 Maja, the one with the weirdly good pastries. I mean, who knew a place that looks like it’s stuck in the ‘90s could serve such bomb croissants? But I digress. I’m sipping my coffee, feeling all philosophical about life and self-determination (my job, ya know?), when BOOM! My phone buzzes. It’s a message from a student. “Help! I’m lost in Hrubieszów!” Like, lost? In a town that’s basically a straight line? I chuckle, but then I’m like, “Alright, let’s go save the day.” I hop on my bike, zooming down ul. Zamojska. The wind’s in my hair, and I’m feeling like a superhero. But then, I hit a pothole. Ugh! My bike almost flips. I’m cursing like a sailor. “Who the heck maintains these roads?” I mean, come on, it’s 2023! Finally, I get to the square, and there’s my student, looking like a deer in headlights. “Dude, how did you get lost?” I ask, half-laughing. Turns out, he took a wrong turn at the fountain. Classic. We end up chatting about his future, and I’m all pumped up, giving him the whole “you can do anything” spiel. But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. Like, seriously? I’m drenched in seconds. We dash into a café on ul. Kościuszki. It’s cozy, but the coffee’s overpriced. I’m like, “This better be the best coffee ever.” Spoiler: it wasn’t. While we’re waiting for the rain to chill, I notice this old guy at the next table. He’s reading a newspaper, and I swear he’s giving me the side-eye. I’m thinking, “What’s your deal, grandpa?” But then he starts talking about the history of Hrubieszów. Apparently, it’s got roots going back to the 12th century! Mind blown. I mean, I knew it was old, but wow. After the rain stops, we head out, and I’m feeling all inspired. We stroll down ul. Słowackiego, and I’m pointing out cool spots. “Look, that’s where they have the summer festival!” I’m all animated, and he’s nodding like he gets it. But honestly, I’m just trying to keep the energy up. Then, we hit a snag. A group of tourists is blocking the sidewalk, taking selfies. I’m like, “C’mon, people! This isn’t a photo op!” I mean, I get it, but really? I’m trying to help a kid figure out his life here! Finally, we make it to the park by the river. It’s beautiful, and I’m feeling all zen. We sit on a bench, and I’m like, “This is it, man. This is where you find yourself.” He’s looking at me like I’m some kind of guru. I’m just a dude who had a crazy day in Hrubieszów, but whatever. As the sun sets, I’m thinking about how wild life is. One minute you’re sipping coffee, the next you’re playing tour guide. I’m exhausted but happy. I mean, this town has its quirks, but it’s home. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, but mostly just a reminder that life’s a wild ride. And Hrubieszów? It’s got a special place in my heart. Even with the potholes and overpriced coffee.
