Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, Janow-Lubelski is a wild ride. I woke up, and the sun was blazin’ through my window. I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I had to get to the university. I’m a Visiting Prof, right? So I’m strutting down ul. Lubelska, feelin’ all smart and stuff. But then, bam! A pigeon poops on my shoulder. Like, seriously? Who do I have to talk to about this? I’m not a pigeon toilet! Anyway, I get to the lecture hall, and it’s packed. Students everywhere, all hyped up. I start my lecture on Polish history, and they’re actually paying attention. I’m like, “Wow, these kids are into it!” But then, halfway through, the fire alarm goes off. Ugh! Talk about a buzzkill. We all pile out onto ul. 1 Maja, and I’m just standing there, trying to keep my cool. While we’re waiting, I spot this cute café, Kawiarnia na Rynku. I’m thinkin’, “Coffee will save me.” So I dash over, but the line is like a mile long. I’m losing it. I finally get my coffee, and guess what? It’s cold. Cold coffee in Janow-Lubelski? No thanks! Back to the lecture, finally. I’m trying to pick up where I left off, but the students are all buzzing about the fire alarm. I mean, come on! Focus, people! But then, one brave soul raises their hand and says, “Prof, that was the most exciting part of class!” I can’t even be mad. I laugh, and the whole room cracks up. After class, I decide to explore a bit. I wander down ul. Słowackiego, and it’s beautiful. The old buildings, the vibe, it’s all so picturesque. I’m snapping pics like a tourist. Then I stumble upon this little market. Fresh veggies, homemade pierogi, and oh man, the smell! I’m in heaven. I grab some pierogi, and they’re the best I’ve ever had. Like, I could marry these dumplings. But then, I see this old guy selling handmade crafts. He’s got these wooden toys that are just amazing. I’m chatting with him, and he tells me about Janow’s history. Did you know it was founded in the 14th century? Mind blown! I’m like, “Dude, you should be teaching!” As I’m leaving, I trip over a cobblestone. Classic me, right? I’m sprawled out on the ground, and this group of kids starts laughing. I can’t help but laugh too. I mean, it’s Janow-Lubelski, and I’m just a clumsy prof. Later, I hit up a local bar, and it’s packed. Everyone’s having a blast. I order a beer, and the bartender is super friendly. We start chatting about the local football team, and I’m like, “Wait, you guys are serious about this?” Turns out, they are! The passion is real here. As the night goes on, I’m feeling all the feels. Happy, surprised, a bit angry about the pigeon, but mostly just grateful. Janow-Lubelski is a gem. I mean, who knew a small town could pack so much punch? I finally head back to my place, exhausted but happy. I think about all the crazy stuff that happened today. I can’t wait to tell my friends back home. Janow-Lubelski, you’ve got my heart. What a day!
