Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a butcher in Jasło is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s barely up, and I’m already thinkin’ about the fresh cuts I gotta prep. I live on ul. 3 Maja, just a stone’s throw from the market. You know, the one where all the babcias haggle over the price of kielbasa? Classic Jasło vibes. I get to the shop, and it’s like a scene from a horror movie. The fridge is on the fritz! I mean, c’mon! I just stocked it with the best pork belly. I’m sweating bullets, thinking about all that meat going bad. So, I call the repair guy. He’s like, “Yeah, I’ll be there in an hour.” An hour? I could’ve butchered a whole cow in that time! While I’m pacing, I hear this commotion outside. I peek out, and there’s a bunch of kids playing football on ul. Piłsudskiego. They’re kicking the ball around like it’s the World Cup. I can’t help but smile. Reminds me of my childhood. But then, bam! One of ‘em kicks it too hard, and it smashes right into my shop window. Glass everywhere! I’m fuming, but I can’t stay mad. Kids will be kids, right? Finally, the repair guy shows up. He’s this old dude, looks like he’s seen better days. He takes one look at the fridge and says, “You need a new one.” Great. Just what I needed to hear. I’m about to lose my mind. But then, he pulls out a sandwich from his bag. It’s a big ol’ pastrami on rye. He offers me half, and I’m like, “Dude, you’re a lifesaver!” We end up chatting about the best places to eat in Jasło. He swears by the pierogi at that little place on ul. Słowackiego. I gotta check it out. After the fridge fiasco, I finally get to work. I’m slicing and dicing, feeling like a pro. The smell of fresh meat fills the air. I love it. But then, my buddy Tomek walks in. He’s got this wild look in his eyes. “You won’t believe what just happened!” he says. Apparently, he saw a guy trying to steal a bike right outside the church on ul. Jana Pawła II. The guy got caught, and the whole thing turned into a scene. I’m laughing so hard, picturing it. Jasło drama at its finest! As the day goes on, I get a regular customer, Mrs. Kowalska. She’s a sweet old lady, always asking about my family. Today, she brings me a jar of her homemade pickles. I’m like, “You’re the best, Mrs. K!” It’s little moments like this that make the grind worth it. But then, just when I think it can’t get crazier, a stray dog wanders into the shop. I’m not even kidding! This scruffy little mutt just strolls in like he owns the place. I’m trying to shoo him out, but he’s not budging. He plops down right in front of the meat counter. I’m cracking up. “You want a steak, buddy?” By the end of the day, I’m exhausted but happy. I close up shop, and as I walk home, I take a moment to soak in Jasło. The streets are buzzing, people chatting, kids laughing. It’s a small town, but it’s got heart. I pass by the old market square, and I can hear the sounds of a band playing. I stop for a second, just to enjoy the moment. So yeah, that was my day. Full of chaos, laughter, and a bit of madness. Just another day in Jasło, where every corner has a story, and every butcher has a tale to tell. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
