Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m a charcoal burner, right? Yeah, I know, not the most glamorous gig, but it’s honest work. Anyway, I woke up in Kowary, that little gem of a town in Poland, nestled in the Karkonosze mountains. Beautiful place, but today? Ugh. First off, I’m tryna get my morning coffee at that tiny café on ul. 1 Maja. You know the one? The barista, bless her heart, spills half the coffee all over the counter. I’m like, “Great, just what I needed.” But hey, I’m not one to lose my cool over spilled coffee. I mean, it’s just coffee, right? But still, I was like, “C’mon, I need this to deal with my day!” So, I finally get my cup and head out. The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinking, “Maybe today won’t be so bad.” Spoiler alert: it was. I’m walking down ul. Kowarska, and I see this old dude trying to fix his bike. He’s got more tools than sense, and I’m just standing there, watching him struggle. I mean, c’mon, it’s a bike, not a rocket ship! I couldn’t help but chuckle. Then, outta nowhere, this kid on a skateboard zooms by and nearly takes out the old man. I’m like, “Dude, watch where you’re going!” The kid just laughs and keeps going. I swear, kids these days have no fear. Anyway, I finally get to my charcoal pit, right? It’s down by the river, near the old mill. Perfect spot, but today? It was a mess. The wind was blowing like crazy, and I’m trying to keep the fire going. I’m sweating like a pig, and I’m thinking, “Why do I do this again?” But then I remember, it’s the smell of that burning wood. It’s like magic. So, I’m working away, and suddenly, I hear this loud crash. I look up, and it’s a bunch of tourists taking selfies by the mill. One of them knocked over a whole stack of firewood. I’m like, “Seriously? You guys are in Kowary, not Disneyland!” But they just laugh it off. I mean, who can blame them? It’s a beautiful place, but come on! After that, I’m trying to get back to work when I see my buddy, Jarek, coming down ul. Główna. He’s got this huge grin on his face. I’m like, “What’s up, man?” Turns out he just got a new job at the local brewery. I’m happy for him, but also a bit jealous. I mean, who wouldn’t want to work with beer? So, we’re chatting, and I’m telling him about my day. He’s cracking up, and I’m like, “Dude, it’s not funny!” But it kinda is. I mean, who else has days like this? Then, outta nowhere, it starts to rain. Not just a drizzle, but a full-on downpour. I’m scrambling to cover my charcoal, and Jarek’s laughing his head off. I’m soaked, and I’m like, “This is just perfect!” But then, I see a rainbow. A freakin’ rainbow! Right over Kowary. I’m standing there, drenched, but I can’t help but smile. After the rain, the air smells fresh, and the town looks even more beautiful. I’m walking back home, and I pass by the old church on ul. Kościelna. It’s stunning, especially after the rain. I stop for a sec, just to take it all in. Finally, I get home, and I’m exhausted. But you know what? I wouldn’t trade my life in Kowary for anything. It’s crazy, it’s messy, but it’s home. And tomorrow? Who knows what’ll happen. But I’m ready for it. Bring it on!
